Martin Green, Eurovision 2025 Director, responded to the leak of footage from the first semi-final’s dress rehearsal, addressing the challenges of securing the broadcast.

The jury rehearsal for the first semi-final (the second dress rehearsal) of Eurovision 2025 took place last night. Despite a strict ban on filming and publishing images from the screen or the venue, social media was flooded with clips from the rehearsal. Eurovision Director, Martin Green, addressed the issue several hours after the rehearsal, revealing that leaking such material is not particularly difficult.

”We have to broadcast the stream by satellite to the juries in each country. Technology differs between the broadcasters and unfortunately, if someone really wants to, they could hack the stream and leak the footage,” said Green.

Security Measures and Ongoing Challenges

Furthermore, Green emphasized that regardless of the security measures in place, some individuals have managed to access the audiovisual material:

”Although we try to tighten up security and we have extremely smart people on our cybersecurity team, there are other extremely smart people who really want this footage and who will find a way to access it.”

The director also thanked those who reported the leaked links and the cyber team for removing the leaked content from social media platforms. He added that the lawyers of the European Broadcasting Union are aware of the situation and that the matter will be investigated.
