Patricie Kaňok, the lead singer of the Czech band Vesna, which secured the tenth place at Eurovision 2023 with the song “My Sister’s Crown,” shared on social media that she has given birth to a daughter named Johana. She compared the experience to the empowering themes of her band’s music.
Social Media Announcement
The singer expressed her joy on social media, stating: “A fairy flew to us. We named her Johana Kaňok. She is a gift from God and a warrior despite her gentle soul. Nothing compares to the feeling when our daughter was placed on our chest for the first time. Johanka, welcome to the world.”
Birth Experience
In another post, Kaňok described her labor as a significant 37-hour experience filled with challenges, likening it to climbing Everest. Supported by midwives and doctors, she managed a natural birth as she desired and expressed gratitude to her partner and medical team. She emphasized the importance of their support, feeling empowered and confident in facing future challenges. “Having overcome this,” she wrote, “I can handle anything in the world.”
Connection to Vesna’s Music
Kaňok related her childbirth experience to Vesna’s songs about female empowerment: “We always sang about women’s strength in Vesna’s songs. I think I truly understand what it means only after giving birth.”
