JoJo Siwa, the American reality and music star, has expressed her desire to represent the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2026 – after her attempt to represent Poland in the contest did not materialize.
JoJo Siwa, 22, is a controversial American singer and reality TV star who rose to fame as a child on “Dance Moms” and recently appeared on “Big Brother VIP UK.” She remains determined to participate in Eurovision, after revealing last year that she has Polish roots and expressing interest in representing Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest.
No Call from Poland – So Maybe the United Kingdom?
It all began when JoJo Siwa shared about a year ago that she was interested in representing Poland at the contest. Her song “Yesterday’s Tomorrow’s Today” even went viral in the country, but ultimately, the story faded away. The Polish national broadcaster even denied any contact with Siwa.
Now, in a new interview with Capital Buzz, Siwa responded humorously when asked why she wasn’t chosen for Poland:
“Never got the phone call, babes! F***ing hell they got me all excited and then never called me and honestly, I can’t blame them.”
When asked about her Polish language skills, she attempted to sing something in Polish – then simply admitted: “Horrible.”
“Sign Me Up”: Siwa Wants to Represent the United Kingdom
When the interviewer raised the possibility of representing the United Kingdom at Eurovision, Siwa enthusiastically jumped at the idea: “Honestly, sign me up for Eurovision!” The pop star, who gained significant exposure during her stint on “Big Brother VIP UK”, continues to show affection for the United Kingdom, even stating on TikTok: “I just want to stay in England.” Currently, there are no official nationality restrictions for Eurovision contestants – countries may send artists from other nations, as long as they are selected internally or publicly by the country. In other words, Siwa does not need British citizenship to represent the United Kingdom.
Will the United Kingdom Go for an International Star?
The United Kingdom, which finished only 19th in the Eurovision 2025 Grand Final and has struggled year after year despite being a global music powerhouse, has been seeking new and surprising directions in recent years – sometimes through established stars. The big question is whether the BBC will take a chance on an American queer reality star with a massive young following, or once again opt for a local talent.
Experience, Expertise, and Realistic Chances?
Siwa, who gained popularity at a young age, has in recent years become a prominent queer icon, with hits like “Karma“, a vibrant persona, and energetic performances. Nevertheless, she has yet to operate within the Eurovision scene – a factor that could make it difficult in a crowded field full of experienced European creators. However, with the right support, Siwa could certainly be a surprise – especially if she brings a catchy song, a polished performance, and a unique presence.
From conversations I’ve had with Eurovision fans, if the United Kingdom does choose Siwa, she could well receive votes from the “rest of the world,” particularly from the United States – regardless of the song she sends. Her controversial status might even help her attract public votes, preventing the United Kingdom from ending up with zero points from the public for a third consecutive year.
At present, there are no indications that the BBC plans to select her, but if talks become official, this would certainly be one of the most intriguing proposals ahead of Eurovision 2026.
United Kingdom at Eurovision 2025
The song “What The Hell Just Happened?” was performed by the girl group Remember Monday, representing the United Kingdom at Eurovision. The group finished 19th in the Grand Final with 88 points – all from the juries. While the juries ranked the group 10th, the public gave the Unoted Kingdom zero points, placing the song last.
Despite the United Kingdom’s storied Eurovision history, in the past 25 years, it has managed to reach the Top 10 only three times – in 2002, 2009 and 2022.
Eurovision 2025: This was the 67th participation of the United Kingdom in Eurovision. The United Kingdom joined the competition in 1957 and has won it five times over the years. The United Kingdom’s last victory was in Eurovision 1997 with the song ‘Love Shine A Light’ performed by the band ‘Katrina and the Waves’.
