According to reports, Angelina Mango plans a return at Sanremo 2026, amid uncertainty over the festival’s location. Will she represent Italy at Eurovision again?

Angelina Mango, who represented Italy at Eurovision 2024 with the song “La Noia” (in English: “The Boredom”) and finished in seventh place, is reportedly planning a comeback to Italy’s main music stage – the Sanremo Festival. According to Italian media, Mango is currently working on new material, aiming to secure a spot in the official participant list for Sanremo 2026 – and perhaps to represent Italy at Eurovision again.

Angelina Mango’s Journey: From Reality TV to Eurovision

Mango first rose to national recognition in Italy after placing second on the reality show “Amici 22” (“Friends 22”). She built on this success by winning Sanremo 2024, earning the right to represent Italy at Eurovision, where she achieved a respectable seventh place in the Grand Final. Notably, this was Italy’s lowest Eurovision placement since 2016.

After an intense period of performances and international exposure, Mango chose to pause her artistic career to focus on her studies and personal health. Now, as reported by entertainment expert Amadeo Venessa on Instagram, she is embarking on a new music project that could bring her back to Italy’s most prominent music arena.

Uncertain Future for the Sanremo Festival

While interest in Mango’s return grows, the Sanremo Festival itself faces uncertainty. As previously reported, a public dispute is escalating between the Italian national broadcaster and the Sanremo city council – a conflict that could, for the first time in 75 years, see the festival moved to a new location. Candidate host cities include Turin, which previously hosted Eurovision 2022 and is considered a favorite if a move becomes necessary.

Angelina Mango, one of Italy’s standout stars in recent years, is in the midst of a comeback that could once again see her in the limelight—and perhaps at another Eurovision. Yet it remains to be seen whether Sanremo will proceed as planned, and if so, where it will take place.

Italy at Eurovision 2025

Volevo essere un duro” (in English: “I Wanted to Be Tough”) is the song performed by singer Lucio Corsi, which came second at the 75th edition of the Sanremo Festival. The song was written by the singer himself along with Tommaso Ottomano. This was the singer’s first-ever appearance at the festival. The song is performed in Italian. The song finished fifth in the grand final with 256 points.

Italy returns to the Eurovision Grand Final Top 5 after last year achieving “only” seventh place.

Eurovision 2025: This was Italy’s 50th participation in Eurovision. Italy joined the contest in 1956, was one of the seven founding countries, and has won three times over the years. Italy’s most recent victory was at Eurovision 2021 with the song “Zitti e buoni” performed by the band Måneskin.
