Vietnam wins Intervision 2025 with a stunning performance. Full results and highlights from Moscow’s show in the article
Vietnam emerged as the grand winner of Intervision 2025. For the first time since 1980, the competition took place in Moscow, featuring artists from 23 countries around the globe. The victor was singer Duc Phuc, with his song “Phu Dong Thien Vuong” (translated: “Phu Dong the Heavenly King”), declared the night’s top entry. Just before the judges’ votes ended, a special AI-powered segment revealed that Saudi Arabia would host Intervision 2026.
Alternative Eurovision Stars and Unique Voting
Unlike Eurovision, results in Intervision 2025 were determined solely by the judges under a special format. Each judge from the 23 participating nations awarded points, with first place receiving 29, second place 25, third place 22, and so forth, down to last place with one point. Judges were strictly prohibited from voting for their own countries. Vietnam triumphed with a decisive 50-point lead, followed by Kyrgyzstan in second place and Qatar in third.
The official slogan of Intervision 2025 was “Music in the heart of your country.” As organizers explained, every participating nation brings a part of its soul and culture to the stage, and it is precisely through these differences that common ground can be found. Music was portrayed as a universal tool uniting peoples and making millions of hearts beat together as one.
The glamorous show was hosted by actor and model Alexey Vorobyov, who represented Russia at Eurovision 2011, and opera singer Aida Garifullina in Russian. Joining them were Chinese TV presenter Meng Lei in Mandarin and Indian actress and model Stefy Patel in English. The show opened with Dima Bilan, winner of Eurovision 2008, and Polina Gagarina, Russia’s representative at Eurovision 2015, performing “At dawn”. Following their act, the flag parade began, enhanced with AI-created holograms representing each competing country.
Rising Star from Vietnam
Even before clinching victory, Duc Phuc had become the most talked-about contestant. A video of him handing out traditional Vietnamese hats to fellow performers went viral on TikTok, turning him into a fan favorite ahead of the vote. His popularity cemented his win, which came as no surprise to many. In addition to his title, Duc Phuc received a financial prize of $300,000, further elevating Vietnam’s historic triumph at Intervision.

Politics Sneak Into the Contest
Despite promises from Russia’s Foreign Ministry that Intervision would be free of politics and unnecessary extravagance, the competition opened on a different note. After Cuba’s performance, the first competing country, a televised message from Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the revival of the contest. Following China’s performance, an interview with Russia’s foreign minister was also broadcast.
The evening’s biggest controversy involved the United States entrant, VASSY, who was scheduled to perform fifth but withdrew at the last moment. The live broadcast stated she had stepped aside due to “diplomatic pressures” from Australia. Later, organizers confirmed in an official statement that her withdrawal came as a direct result of pressure from the Australian government, since the artist holds dual citizenship—Australian and American. Despite her departure, U.S. juror Joe Lynn Turner remained in the panel and cast his votes on behalf of the United States.
Unexpected Stage Drama
Another dramatic twist unfolded when Russian contestant SHAMAN broke contest rules. After his performance, he remained on stage and announced he withdrawing his candidacy. Addressing the audience and jury, SHAMAN expressed gratitude for the warm reception but stressed that by virtue of hosting laws, Russia was not entitled to claim victory. “The fact that the competition is held in Russia is already a victory itself,” he declared.
