Austria’s national broadcaster ORF reveals how the Eurovision 2026 postcards will look, along with new details about filming, design inspiration, and ticket sales opening soon for Vienna’s contest.
Austria’s national broadcaster, ORF, responsible for producing Eurovision 2026, has revealed fresh details about the upcoming contest that will take place in Vienna. Among them are new insights into the postcards that will feature each participating country and artist, describing their creative direction and visual style in detail.
The broadcaster also announced the early registration date for Eurovision 2026 tickets — next Monday, November 24th.
The Postcards: A New Artistic Vision
Originally introduced to maintain broadcast flow and keep viewers engaged while stage crews prepared for the next act, the postcards have become a beloved Eurovision tradition. They draw great anticipation among fans, many of whom eagerly await each year’s unique concept.
According to ORF’s description, every postcard begins with a shot of the artist receiving a physical postcard sent from Austria while they are in their home country. The camera then zooms in, and the image on the postcard comes to life — the artist suddenly appears in the Austrian landscape. At the end of each postcard, the performer is shown posing against that backdrop before the frame freezes. The scene returns to the artist viewing the postcard from their home, now displayed alongside postcards from all other countries.
Filming started in October, an early start meant to feature Austrian landscapes across all four seasons. The broadcaster explained that Austria’s diverse scenery changes dramatically throughout the year, making it important to capture every mood and color palette.
Unlike last year, when each artist was filmed in a Swiss location with no footage from their home countries, this year’s approach marks a refreshing change. ORF aims to merge both worlds within one postcard — blending the natural beauty, character, and culture of the artist’s nation with those of the host country, Austria.
For the first time, Eurovision fans visiting Vienna will be able to purchase physical copies of the postcards, designed identically to those seen in the broadcast. These will serve as charming keepsakes celebrating both the visit to Austria and the excitement of the Eurovision experience itself.
Eurovision 2026: the 70th edition of the contest will take place in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026. The Wiener Stadthalle arena, which will host the event, is expected to accommodate around 16,000 spectators per show. The contest returns to Austria following the nation’s third historic win with the song “Wasted Love”, performed by JJ. It will be Austria’s third time hosting Eurovision, after previous editions held in the country in 1967 and 2015.
