Nearly nine years after Eurovision 2017, Imri Ziv lands the leading role in an international musical set to premiere in Paris this March.

Imri Ziv, Israel’s representative at Eurovision 2017, is taking his career in a new international direction – this time on a major stage in Paris. Nearly nine years after representing Israel at Eurovision with the song “I Feel Alive, Ziv has been cast in the leading role of the French international musical “Le Sel et le Miel” (in English: “The Salt and the Honey”). As part of the production, Ziv is expected to relocate to Paris for the rehearsal and performance period.

This marks another significant milestone in the career of one of Israel’s most memorable Eurovision representatives of recent years. He will star in the lead role alongside a local cast of actors, singers, and dancers, performing entirely in French.

About the Musical

“Le Sel et le Miel” was written and directed by Bernard Bitan and is set to premiere in Paris in March. First staged in 1994, the musical follows the story of the Jewish people from the Holocaust to the establishment of the State of Israel, told through a love story between Samuel – portrayed by Ziv, and Rebecca. The title reflects the journey from pain and loss toward hope and renewal.

A Familiar Project

Ziv’s connection to the production is not new. Around two years ago, he appeared in the Israeli version of the musical, portraying the same role he will now perform in Paris. The Hebrew adaptation, titled “From Darkness to Great Light”, was met with success and featured additional well-known performers, including Amit Farkash and Eli Gornstein. Following his performance in the Israeli production, Ziv was invited to take part in the French version as well.

As part of the Paris run, Ziv is expected to perform at the renowned Folies Bergère, one of the city’s most iconic and prestigious theatres — a notable achievement in the international career of Israel’s Eurovision representative.

Israel at Eurovision 2025

“New Day Will Rise” is the song performed by Yuval Raphael, who was chosen to represent Israel after winning the 11th season of “HaKokhav HaBa”. Israel advanced to the final after winning the second semi-final with 203 points and finished second overall with 357 points in the grand final. Israel ranked first in the public vote but only 14th with the jury. This marks the third consecutive year that Israel has reached the top five – an unprecedented achievement.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Israel’s 48th participation in Eurovision. Israel joined the contest in 1973 and has won four times. Its most recent victory was at Eurovision 2018 with the song “Toy”, performed by singer Netta Barzilai.
