Melodifestivalen, the Swedish Eurovision national selection, is one of the most important events for local music lovers and Eurovision fans worldwide. Every year, rumors and leaks about the list of participants fill local and international media. According to recent reports in the Swedish press, the duo Scarlet, who starred in last year’s competition, may return to compete in Melodifestivalen 2025, which will choose the country’s representative for Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.

Scarlet: The Metal Duo Considering a Comeback

Following their successful performance last year, several sources reported to the Swedish newspaper “Expressen” that the Scarlet duo is considering returning to the competition this year. An anonymous insider reported that “they’ve been interested (in returning) since last spring.” The reports indicate that the duo has been discussing the idea of participating again in the competition since they finished their journey in Melodifestivalen 2024.

Scarlet is a Swedish metal duo, formed in 2018. The duo is known for their heavy metal style, which combines elements of pop with modern metal. They added a special color to the Melodifestivalen competition in 2024 when they performed with the song “Circus X“. This unique metal duo, consisting of two women, is characterized by heavy skull makeup and maintaining an anonymous identity. Although the duo didn’t advance directly to the final, they reached the “Second Chance” stage, where they ranked fourth.

Their participation in the competition made the duo a well-known name among the Swedish audience, and their song received wide appreciation and even entered the Swedish music charts. In recent years, the duo has toured across Europe. During 2023 and 2024, the duo performed as the opening act for the band Smash Into Pieces, which also participated in Melodifestivalen and reached third place twice.
