A record-breaking 221 songs have been submitted for the Croatian Eurovision pre-selection, “Dora 2025”. This is the highest number of songs ever submitted for participation in the Croatian pre-selection, with the winner set to represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland.

Success Breeds Appetite: Following Croatia’s near-victory at Eurovision last year, with Croatian representative Baby Lasagna garnering the majority of public votes, more Croatian artists than ever are now eager to replicate this achievement. The Croatian national broadcaster, HRT, announced that 221 songs were submitted for “Dora 2025”, the highest number of entries since the national selection’s return in 2019.

In comparison, last year saw about 200 song submissions, while 196 were submitted for Eurovision 2023, 184 for the 2022 selection, and only about 140 in 2021.

Selection Process

A professional jury will select 24 songs to compete in the Croatian Eurovision national selection from all submitted entries. Additionally, four more songs will be chosen as backups in case a participant withdraws or is disqualified. It’s worth noting that Baby Lasagna’s song, which represented Croatia at Eurovision 2024, was surprisingly chosen as one of the backup songs and only entered the selection after another contestant withdrew.
