Salvador Sobral, the 2017 Eurovision winner from Portugal, will perform next month in a unique concert in Portugal in solidarity with Palestine. The proceeds will be donated to a local organization for “Palestinian liberation”.

Salvador Sobral will perform at the b.leza club in Lisbon at a fundraising event for the Portuguese organization “Coletivo pela Libertação da Palestina” to support the struggle for a “free Palestine” according to their statement, and to provide aid to Palestinian residents.

The performance will take place on February 6, at 21:00 Portuguese time, coinciding with Israel being in the midst of the first phase of the hostage deal, which includes a ceasefire in Gaza, the return of 33 Israeli hostages alive and deceased, and the release of 1,000 terrorists, some who murdered brutally innocent Israeli civilians.

The starting price for Sobral’s performance is 15 euros, but organizers are encouraging buyers to pay even more to maximize donations to the Portuguese organization for Palestinian liberation and to enable similar fundraising events in the future. The organizers emphasize that those for whom the amount is too high can send a message to the organizers and donate any amount of money they choose, as the purpose of the event is to contribute to “Palestinian liberation”, regardless of the size of the donation.

This is not the first time Sobral has expressed his support for the Palestinian side in the conflict. In 2019, a year after Netta Barzilai and Israel’s Eurovision victory, Sobral made an unusual political statement to the media: “If I were competing this year, I would wear a T-shirt with the inscription ‘Free Palestine’. I don’t intend to come to Israel.”
