Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Slovenia?
Avi Zaikaner: First Place – July Jones – “New Religion”
Ofek Jerassi: First Place – July Jones – “New Religion”
The Slovenian selection was very disappointing, with many familiar names but songs of insufficient quality… However, I was pleasantly surprised by July Jones, whom I knew before the selection, who brought an exceptionally strong song, in stark contrast to her other songs which were less to my taste. I think July’s song is a level above the rest; it’s catchy, energetic, and current, unlike the other selection songs which are amusing at best and terrible at worst. She’s absolutely Slovenia’s only chance to qualify for the final – Slovenia, choose wisely!
Guy Solo: First Place – July Jones – “New Religion”
I was pleasantly surprised by this year’s Slovenian Eurovision selection. There are many good songs with quite good quality, and I’m definitely looking forward to the actual broadcast. Although there are strong songs this year, the clear winner is undoubtedly July Jones with the song “New Religion”. It’s an energetic, upbeat song with a current and refreshing atmosphere. The chorus is catchy, infectious, and from a short YouTube clip that was published, it’s evident that there’s an organized and clear choreography for the song – something that will undoubtedly contribute to the stage performance. The song reflects the idea of the strong and addictive influence that love has on a person, to the extent that it’s described as a new religion. The imagery in the song describes a wonderful and unforgettable presence of the object of love, shining like diamonds and convincing the lover that they’re experiencing true love. It’s time for July Jones to represent Slovenia at Eurovision!
Ronnie Glik: First Place – July Jones – “New Religion”
I chose the amazing July Jones with the song “New Religion” for a certain victory! July is simply the definition of human perfection, she’s one of the most beautiful and charming things I’ve seen in my life and one of my favorite singers for close to a year and more than that, one of the most talented women in Europe. Her music touches the heart in an inexplicable way and everything she does gives a feeling of a work of art and personal identification, as if she wrote her songs intentionally for her audience. She’s destined for the stage and a Eurovision career, she’s the most suitable thing for the competition in the world and I’m convinced she’ll win it, whether it’s this year or in the years to come, and the song she participated with in the Slovenian selection in 2022 is one of the biggest misses that ever happened.
Her current song in the selection entered my heart from the first second and doesn’t leave, this girl knows how to move in an inexplicable way and every part of the song is simply more amazing and stronger than the previous one, in a mesmerizing and scary way. The song is at the level of a Eurovision win in my opinion and there’s nothing in this selection that even comes close to the level of this divine woman, for months she’s been planning an unforgettable performance that will definitely not disappoint. July Jones is the winner of Eurovision this year and there’s no doubt at all, hopefully the viewers of the Slovenian selection will be enchanted by her perfection as I was enchanted and will choose her to bring Slovenia its first victory!
Tal Dahan: First Place – July Jones – “New Religion”
I chose “New Religion” by July Jones, a singer who in my opinion should have already represented Slovenia at Eurovision 2022 and was robbed in the national selection. Her song this year is the best among the rest, which I find to be of very low quality. Jones brings a song with a good rhythm, which will certainly have an elaborate performance, and I believe among the national selection songs, this is the one that will bring Slovenia the best result.
Roy Moreno: First Place – July Jones – “New Religion”
Last year, Slovenia gave up on the national selection to send a well-known singer who had already competed in it before, a decision that saves time and money. This year too, I would recommend they forgo the national selection and choose someone directly. I didn’t like the songs in the current selection at all and felt they were weak, tired, and lacking character. Among all the contestants, July Jones is my winner, but only because her song is relatively decent compared to the others, and because I trust her as an artist who will know how to deliver a good performance in Basel. She has other excellent songs that it’s a shame she couldn’t bring to this selection, and I hope Slovenia will produce a higher quality selection next year.
Aviad Berger: First Place – ANNA – “Čau”
Maayan Eli: First Place – ZveN – “Divja”
The stage potential of “Divja” placed it above all others for me. It has the ability to stand out, it’s not pop or a ballad, and it has an interesting sound that takes the listener to a circle of druids in the middle of the forest. If Zven’s voice manages to hold it and the performance is interesting enough, it could easily reach the final.

Slovenia in Eurovision 2024:
“Veronika” is the name of the song performed by Raiven, who was chosen to represent Slovenia through an internal selection by the national broadcaster. Slovenia advanced to the final after placing ninth in the first semi-final with 51 points, and in the grand final, they finished 23rd with 27 points.
This is the second consecutive time Slovenia has qualified for the final, matching their qualification streaks in 2014-2015 and 2018-2019. However, this is Slovenia’s lowest placement in a final since Eurovision 2014.
Eurovision 2025: This will be Slovenia’s 30th participation in Eurovision. Slovenia joined the competition in 1993 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 1995 and Eurovision 2001 after finishing seventh twice.
