Marvin Dietmann will serve as the artistic director for three Eurovision performances in Basel. Which Eurovision songs has he worked on previously? All the details are in the article.
Marvin Dietmann and Black Skull Creative will collaborate on the artistic direction for three countries at this year’s Eurovision in Basel. The selection of Dietmann reflects a desire for visually polished performances, aligning with his international reputation.
Dietmann and Black Skull Creative will direct “Laika Party,” performed by EMMY, representing Ireland, as announced by the singer this week. They will also oversee “Milkshake Man,” performed by Go-Jo, representing Australia. Both Ireland and Australia will compete against each other in the second semi-final on May 15th. Finally, they will direct Germany’s entry, “Baller,” performed by Abor & Tynna.
Marvin Dietmann – Who Are You?
Marvin Dietmann is considered one of the most prominent names in artistic direction at the contest, with rich experience spanning over a decade. Since 2011, he has been responsible for directing no less than 22 different Eurovision performances, including some of the most memorable ones. In the last contest in 2024, he was in charge of directing the performances for Austria, Cyprus, and Germany, earning praise for creating impressive and meticulous shows for each country.
Recently, it was also revealed that Dietmann is in a relationship with Kaleen, Austria’s representative for Eurovision 2024, after he appeared in a reel she posted on social media, revealing they have been together for nine years.

Joining Dietmann is Black Skull Creative, a creative studio that presents itself as global but is physically located in London. It consists of four partners. They are not new to Eurovision; just last year, they designed video elements for three countries: Austria, represented by Kaleen with the song “We Will Rave“, Cyprus, represented by Silia Kapsis performing “Liar“, and Germany, represented by ISAAK performing “Always on the Run“. In all three cases, they collaborated with Dietmann. They also worked at Eurovision 2023 and several times with Sam Ryder, known as the United Kingdom’s representative from Eurovision 2022.
Ireland, Australia, and Germany hope that Dietmann’s experience and creativity and Black Skull’s professionalism in video design will help them deliver unforgettable performances in Basel. Dietmann has succeeded with Australia before, but can Germany, who struggled in recent years, outdo itself? Without a doubt, Abor & Tynna will need something special after their lackluster performance in the German natinoal selection. Ireland and Australia are sending particularly colorful pop songs, and Dietmann and Black Skull will need to make each one stand out with its own unique design language. It’s important to note that both countries are performing in the second semi-final at close positions, Australia is set to perform first and Ireland third. Will the combination of Dietmann and Black Skull succeed in creating unforgettable performances this year? Only time will tell!
Ireland in Eurovision 2025
“Laika Party” is the title of the song to be performed by EMMY, who will represent Ireland at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The song was co-written by the singer along with Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Henrik Østlund, Larissa Tormey, and Truls Marius Aarra. This marks the first Eurovision entry for the other songwriters. The song is performed in English.
The song tells the story of Laika, the first dog in space, imagining for her eternal life and a perpetual party in the skies. The song portrays Laika as a heroic figure who made an important contribution to humanity by her journey into space. It expresses appreciation and love for the dog sent on an unknown space mission and never returned. It conveys a longing and a wish that she is still alive, roaming space, and enjoying eternal positive experiences. In the chorus, there is a feeling of hope and a wish that Laika continues to live a joyful life in space, participating in an endless party among the stars. The song attempts to give a positive image to the character of Laika and invites the listeners to share the sense of wonder and admiration for human achievements in space exploration, while raising questions about the moral cost of such experiments.
Currently, Ireland is ranked 18th on the betting odds ahead of Eurovision 2025.
