Denmark at Eurovision 2026: The Danish national broadcaster, DR, announced that the “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026” will take place on February 14th, confirming Denmark’s participation in Eurovision 2026.

The Danish national broadcaster, DR, has officially announced that the “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix,” will be held on February 14th, 2026, in the city of Frederikshavn, thereby confirming Denmark’s participation in Eurovision 2026. Erik Struve Hansen, head of the Danish delegation to Eurovision and the national selection, stated:

“The aim of the Danish national selection is to unite Danes from all walks of life through music. I am pleased that this means the show remains relevant and is something people from all parts of the country identify with”.




The national broadcaster also announced that a week after the local national selection final, on February 21st, the same venue will host a spin-off competition for children aged 8 to 15. However, the broadcaster has already confirmed that this competition will not be used to select a representative for Junior Eurovision 2025, as the national broadcaster has no intention of participating this year.

Frederikshavn will host various events and activities throughout the two weeks of the national selection, with further details to be announced later this year. Information regarding ticket sales will be available in September.




Denmark at Eurovision 2025

“Hallucination” is the song performed by singer Sissal, who represented Denmark in the grand final of Eurovision 2025. Denmark qualified for the grand final after placing eighth in the second semi-final with 61 points, marking the country’s first qualification for the final after four consecutive years of remaining in the semi-finals. In the grand final, Denmark received 45 points from the jury and just 2 points from the public, finishing in 23rd place overall.

Sissal – Who are you?

Sissal, or by her full name Sissal Jóhanna Norðberg Niclasen, is a 30-year-old Danish singer-songwriter born in the Faroe Islands, and currently residing in Copenhagen, Denmark. At the age of 10, she won a music competition equivalent to MGP in the Faroe Islands, and alongside music, she is studying to become a teacher. Earlier this year, she released her first EP, “Hear Me Now”.

Eurovision 2025: This was Denmark’s 53rd participation in Eurovision. Denmark joined the competition in 1957 and has won it three times over the years. Denmark’s last victory was in Eurovision 2013 with the song “Only Teardrops” performed by singer Emmelie de Forest.
