Greek-American singer Evangelia, who has attempted to reach Eurovision four times and narrowly missed out this year, declares she will not give up on her dream and will try again for Eurovision 2026.

Evangelia, whose full name is Evangelia Psarakis, has become a familiar name in the Eurovision world. In recent years, she has shown remarkable determination in her efforts to represent both Greece and Cyprus, submitting songs to the selection processes of both countries. Some of these tracks have even been released as singles – such as “Ónira” (in English: “Dreaming”), which she submitted for Greece’s Eurovision 2022 selection, “Aphrodite” for Cyprus’s internal selection that same year, and “Pali” for Greece’s 2023 selection. In 2025, she once again competed in the Greek national selection, finishing second with her song “Vale”, just two points behind Klavdia, who went on to represent Greece at Eurovision and placed sixth.

In an interview with the Greek program “Super Katerina”, Evangelia revealed she remains undeterred by her near-miss and stated:

“Eurovision is a dream – and I will try again. Of course, I was sad, but I believe in fate – perhaps it just wasn’t my time”.

Despite the disappointment, the Greek singer is moving forward, planning her next career steps and inspiring young artists across Europe.

Evangelia did not enter the music world in a conventional way. In the interview, she shared that she worked for three years as a teacher for children with special needs in the United States, until budget cuts in the American education system pushed her to pursue a musical career.

“It wasn’t easy, but life led me to a new path. It wasn’t simple, but a lot happened then, and a few months later I met my partner, Jay Stolar“.

She recounted.

Evangelia had already hinted in an exclusive interview with Euromix last March that she is interested in returning to the selection processes for representing Greece and Cyprus, and she was almost unequivocal about her intention to do so. Based on conversations I’ve had with fans in the Euromix Eurovision community and voting data from our website’s polls, Israeli fans are eager to see Evangelia at Eurovision – they are hungry for the genre and connect with its ethnic style.

Greece at Eurovision 2025

“Asteromáta” (translated as: “Eyes of Stars”) is the song performed by Klavdia, who represented Greece at Eurovision 2025. Greece advanced to the Grand Final after finishing fourth in the second semi-final with 112 points. In the Grand Final, Greece secured sixth place with 231 points, with both the jury and the public awarding her eighth place.

The sixth-place finish achieved by Greece is considered the country’s best result since 2013, when it also ranked sixth.

Eurovision 2025: This was Greece’s 45th participation in Eurovision. Greece joined the competition in 1974 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2005 when singer Helena Paparizou won first place with the song “My Number One”.
