Marko Bošnjak continues to spark outrage with disturbing remarks against Israel. What did he say less than a day after the brutal murder of the American pro-Israeli activist?
who represented Croatia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel and advanced deep into the semi-finals, continues his stream of anger—this time unleashing shocking remarks in a series of Instagram stories directed at the American right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, less than a day after his brutal murder during a live broadcast.
“No one should Die – Except Charlie Kirk”
In a particularly shocking series of Instagram stories, Bošnjak launched a disgraceful attack on the murdered activist. He first shared a post about the killing: “Charlie Kirk was shot and killed today while speaking in front of a university campus. No one should die because of their political opinions. No one”. Bošnjak then cynically added his own disturbing comment: “Except Charlie Kirk.”
In another story, he wrote: “To everyone flooding me about ‘empathy’ over Charlie Kirk’s death: where was your empathy during the genocide in Gaza? During the starvation of millions?”. If that were not enough, he pressed on with yet another story: “You tell me I “went too far” for calling out Kirk yet you stay silent when entire families in Palestine are slaughtered.Your selective outrage says it all. This world is fucked. And your empathy seems to show up only when it protects fascists.”
Kirk was widely known for his strong conservative views and outspoken support of Israel. Most of his work focused on persuading young Americans to embrace his agenda and sparking public debate. Bošnjak, however, appears to dismiss the very concept of free discourse and refuses to express even minimal sorrow for a man murdered in the name of pluralism and freedom of thought.
Bošnjak’s Controversial Stance on Israel Draws Fire
The singer’s controversial position on Israel continues to draw backlash—statements that have been criticized widely both in Israel and abroad. In a post-contest interview, Bošnjak even expressed support for calls of “sanctions” against Israel and claimed that “Israel should be disqualified from Eurovision.”
This approach triggered a wave of counterattacks and angry reactions, especially among Israeli fans affronted by his words. His stance contradicts the founding values of Eurovision, which promotes cultural exchange between nations.
Although Marko Bošnjak presents himself as a progressive and liberal figure, his insistence on boycotting Israel contradicts principles of openness, inclusivity, and solidarity—the very values Eurovision seeks to highlight.
Croatia at Eurovision 2025
“Poison Cake” was the title of the song performed by Marko Bošnjak in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2025. Croatia failed to qualify for the grand final, breaking the country’s recent streak of success. The song finished 12th out of 15 entries in its semi-final, receiving a total of 28 points.
Eurovision 2025: This marked Croatia’s 30th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Croatia joined the competition in 1993 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2024 by finishing in second place with the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim” performed by the singer Baby Lasagna.
