Marko Bošnjak:
Marko Bošnjak, born on January 11, 2004, is a Bosnian-Croatian pop singer who rose to fame after winning the second season of the Serbian talent show “Pinkove Zvezdice”. Bošnjak began his performances on the show on September 4, 2015, where he performed Jennifer Hudson’s “One Night Only” in his first appearance. All five judges turned their chairs and gave him a pass to the next stage. Throughout the show, Bošnjak continued to impress with surprising performances and eventually won the competition.
Bošnjak’s success continued in subsequent years, with a nomination to participate in the Croatian national selection for Eurovision in 2022 with the song “Moli za nas”, which came in second place. Bošnjak continues to release singles such as “Spokojan” and “Nema”, and in February 2025, he was announced as a contestant in the ninth season of “Tvoje lice zvuči poznato”, the Croatian version of “Your Face Sounds Familiar”.
“Poison Cake”:
The song describes a story of sweet and dangerous revenge. The lyrics tell of a character who was likely oppressed or exploited and decided to take revenge on those who hurt them by baking a poisoned cake. The song uses imagery of sweetness and color to disguise the dark intentions behind the act. The words describe the process of preparing the poisoned cake, using language reminiscent of magic and potions. There’s a stark contrast between the tempting descriptions of the cake and its true purpose – to poison the victim.
The song expresses feelings of anger, frustration, and a desire to regain control over the speaker’s life. It ends with some acknowledgment of the severity of the act, but without true remorse. The overall message is that revenge, although it may seem sweet at first, is ultimately toxic and dangerous for all parties involved.
The song was written by the singer along with Bas Wissink, who also wrote “Juno” for the Maltese national selection, Ben Pyne, and Emma Gale, who wrote “Monster” for the Latvian national selection and “Sulale” for the Norwegian national selection. This is the first Eurovision song for these writers. The song is performed in English.
Lyrics of “Poison Cake”:
It’s cool now in the kitchen
That happens when you’re bitten
I’m stirring and stirring
Deliciously pouring
And I know you’re gonna love this
A better kind of justice
I don’t want it burning
One last thing, a sprinkle of my sweet revenge
One last thing, a sprinkle of my sweet revenge
Made you something that I know you’ll like
Chocolate-covered sugar and spice
Tasty, tasty, yum, yum, tasty
Candy colours oh so nice
Take a bite of my poison cake, yum
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Take a bite of my poison cake
Been cooking in my cauldron late
You’re never ever gonna stay awake
You’re going down, down, down
You thought I was a servant slave
But I am just a serpent snake
You better genuflect and pray
You better genuflect and pray
Tingles of poison are hitting your veins
What have you done?
Your words are slurring as you fall down
One last thing, a sprinkle of my sweet revenge
One last thing, a sprinkle of my sweet revenge
Made you something that I know you’ll like
Chocolate-covered sugar and spice
Tasty, tasty, yum, yum, tasty
Candy colours oh so nice
Take a bite of my…
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
It’s not my fault, I got carried away
I lost control when I started to bake
A dash of death is bitter to swallow
Don’t be scared, you’ll be buried tomorrow
Poison
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
Poison cake
