Danish singer Sissal Hansen, who represented Denmark at Eurovision 2025, sparks speculation after hinting at “secret plans” for 2026, suggesting a possible comeback to Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.

The “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix” is intensifying as several countries reveal their 2026 candidates – including familiar names from the Eurovision community – vying for another chance to compete in Vienna, Austria. Among those potentially joining the list is none other than Sissal, Denmark’s 2025 Eurovision representative, who performed the song “Hallucination”. Sissal recently appeared on the morning show “Go’ morgen Danmark” (in English: “Good Morning Denmark”) where she performed her latest single, “I’m Not Crying, I’m Dancing”.

In the interview, Sissal discussed the meaning of her new song and subtly teased a return:

“2026 may be even bigger than 2025”.

She mentioned her 2026 calendar is filling up quickly, with much of her time dedicated to studio work. Recently, she has been collaborating with Joy DebLinnea Deb, and Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt — well-known Eurovision producers and songwriters behind iconic entries such as “Heroes”, Sweden’s 2015 winning song, “Voices”, Sweden’s 2021 entry, and “Adrenalina”, which represented San Marino in 2021.

Growing Speculation About Comebacks

The selection process for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 — is already underway. The national broadcaster, DR, is taking a twofold approach: opening submissions to the general public while also inviting record labels and professional songwriters to ensure a high-quality lineup. During an official DMGP fan meeting, rumors began to circulate that some former contestants might return this year.

These facts create a strong impression that Sissal may participate in the “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix” again. Sissal neither confirms nor denies the information, maintaining secrecy and continuing to describe her future plans as “secret”. Despite her silence, the Eurovision community is buzzing with speculation about a possible comeback. The combination of Sissal’s mixed feelings after the 2025 final in Basel and her promise of a big surprise for 2026 suggests that such a scenario might indeed be possible.

Denmark at Eurovision 2025

“Hallucination” is the song performed by singer Sissal, who represented Denmark in the grand final of Eurovision 2025. Denmark qualified for the grand final after placing eighth in the second semi-final with 61 points, marking the country’s first qualification for the final after four consecutive years of remaining in the semi-finals. In the grand final, Denmark received 45 points from the jury and just 2 points from the public, finishing in 23rd place overall.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Denmark’s 54th participation in Eurovision. Denmark joined the competition in 1957 and has won it three times over the years. Denmark’s last victory was in Eurovision 2013 with the song “Only Teardrops” performed by singer Emmelie de Forest.
