Malta at Eurovision 2026: Aidan will perform “Bella” on the Eurovision 2026 stage in Vienna. Listen to the song.

“Bella” (in English: “Beautiful”) is the title of the song performed by Aidan, who will represent Malta at Eurovision 2026. The contest will take place in Vienna, Austria on May 12th, 14th, and 16th. Malta will perform on the second half of the second semi-final. The song was co-written by Aidan together with Joep Van Den Boom and Sarah Bonnici. Aidan triumphed over 11 other contestants in “MESC 2026”, which was held this evening.

The Maltese final took place tonight at the MFCC Conference Centre in Ta’ Qali, hosted by former representatives Destiny Chukunyere and Gaia Cauchi, together with presenter Keane Cutajar. The winner was chosen through a combination of jury votes (50%) and public televoting (50%). Aidan managed to capture the top spot, surpassing other prominent favorites such as Matt Blxck and Denise.

The performance opened in complete darkness, as a single spotlight illuminated Aidan’s silhouette at the center of the stage. With the first sound, the lights burst into vivid hues of red and gold, revealing Aidan dressed in a black leather suit decorated across the chest. Bursting with stage charisma, Aidan maintained intense eye contact with the camera and remained centered throughout the performance. The climax arrived when a whirlwind of roses swirled around him, ending as he raised his fist with excitement and concluded the performance by pronouncing the song’s title — “Bella”.

“Bella” is a sensual and captivating Latin‑pop ballad about love and longing for someone from the past. It features three languages, adding to its Mediterranean feel. A particularly striking line in the bridge is “Int Jean la Valette” (in English: “You are Jean de la Valette”). Jean Parisot de Valette was the Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of Malta — the national hero who led Malta’s defense during the Great Siege of 1565 against the Ottoman Empire. Malta’s capital city, Valletta, is named in his honor.

Aidan – Who Are You?

Aidan, 27, is considered one of the dominant forces in Malta’s music charts, with an impressive record of 15 singles reaching number one. Known for his energetic and engaging live performances, he has performed on Malta’s biggest stages — including the country’s official New Year’s Eve celebrations, in front of more than 50,000 people.

In both 2024 and 2025, Aidan achieved major milestones in his career, headlining his own solo show at the MFCC Conference Centre — Malta’s largest indoor venue. His production, “AIDAN THE SHOW”, became a sold‑out sensation, moving over 10,000 enthusiastic fans and cementing his status as one of the pillars of Maltese music.

He previously competed in the Maltese national selection in 2018 with the song “Dai Laga”, placing fourth, tried again in 2022 with the song “Ritmu”, finishing second, and returned in 2023 — but was disqualified after the quarter‑final stage due to a rules violation.

Lyrics – “Bella”:

Hello, my friend
Is it the end?
I don’t recall the time you said goodbye
Hello, my friend
I’m feeling blue
I gave it all, you took me by surprise

What if our worlds align again?
Right by the summer sky my friend
I hope you know it’s fun to love again
And if you’re feeling cold tonight
I’ll meet you here, now don’t be shy

Che bella
Jien hawn għadni nistenna
I’ll keep holding onto you
After all of this time, it’s you and only you

Bella
Forsi taħseb ftit fija
All the nights that you danced with me
By the sea, they’re calling me

Che bella
Bella, bella, bella…
After all this time, it is you
Ma che bella, bella, bella…

What if our worlds align again?
Right by the summer sky my friend
I hope you know it’s fun to love again
And if you’re feeling cold tonight
I’ll meet you here, now don’t be shy

Che bella
Jien hawn għadni nistenna
I’ll keep holding onto you
After all of this time, it’s you and only you

Miskin min hu bħali
Miskin min hu hekk
Irbaħtli l-battalja
Int Jean la Valette
U tliftli kull sens
Qed inħoss id-dinja ddur bija

Che bella
U ħallejtni nistenna
I’ll keep holding onto you
After all of this time, it’ѕ you and only
Che bellа
