The costs behind Cyprus’s participation in Eurovision 2026 have been unveiled, as national broadcaster CyBC details the state-funded budget for the contest in Vienna, Austria, and the investment behind Antigoni’s “JALLA”.
CyBC’s director Thanasis Tsokos revealed yesterday all key details regarding the Cyprus budget for its participation in Eurovision 2026, which will take place in Vienna, Austria, where singer Antigoni will represent the country with her song “JALLA“. The decision to disclose the figures comes as part of a broader push for financial transparency and responsible resource management around Cyprus’s Eurovision participation.
Budget Breakdown for Cyprus at Eurovision 2026
To achieve the strongest possible result on one of Europe’s biggest music stages, the Cypriot national broadcaster partnered with the record label “Minos EMI” in a joint mission to deliver the best possible final product for Cyprus at the upcoming Eurovision.
Tsokos revealed that Cyprus’s total budget for Eurovision 2026 stands at approximately 270,000 euros. The national broadcaster CyBC allocated around 170,000 euros to the project, with about 50,000 euros earmarked as the participation fee required for the right to take part in the contest.
The record label, for its part, committed to covering an additional amount, bringing its total contribution to 100,000 euros. This budget is designated for production, promotion, and marketing of Cyprus’s Eurovision entry, and it also includes financing for the music video of Antigoni that was released last Sunday and has already “sparked heated public reactions” on social media, which in turn led to parts of the video being censored.
How Cyprus Chose Its Eurovision 2026 Representative?
During an interview with the Cypriot television channel “Alpha Cyprus”, Tsokos also disclosed the process behind selecting singer Antigoni as the country’s representative for Eurovision 2026. He explained that the selection was not random. Minos EMI submitted a list of around 10 proposed artists, and the final decision was made by a jury of five experienced music professionals from the national broadcaster. After an in-depth review of all candidates and their artistic potential for the European stage, the panel selected Antigoni as “the most suitable and compelling choice” to represent Cyprus at the upcoming Eurovision.
