Members of the Euromix editorial team convened to vote for the competing songs in “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026”. Who should represent Denmark at Eurovision according to the editorial team?
The Danish Eurovision national selection, “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026”, is set to take place tommorow at 20:00 CET, featuring 8 contestants. The winner of this local competition will represent Denmark at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, Austria. In anticipation of this event, Euromix editorial team members gathered to listen to the participating songs and select their favorites from the Danish national selection.
Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Denmark?
Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Emil Otto – “Copenhagen Noir”
Emil Otto arrives at the Danish national selection with a song that has something a little different about it – a unique melody and an intriguing arrangement that doesn’t sound like just another generic pop song. In a fairly weak line-up, he really stands out in a positive way and leaves an impression from the very first listen. There’s a special atmosphere, smart build-up, and moments that instantly stick in your ear.
If he manages to deliver this live as well, with precise vocals and the right staging – there’s real potential here. It’s the kind of song that doesn’t necessarily explode immediately, but can gradually build momentum and connect with the European audience. Could this take Denmark high at Eurovision? In my opinion, yes. With a small staging upgrade and a charismatic performance, this could become one of the pleasant surprises of the contest.
Aviad Berger: First Place – Sissal – “Infinity”
At first, I really loved the Danish selection and told all my friends on the site that they had to rank it, because it truly felt like something special. Then I listened to the songs again. And honestly, this selection isn’t that strong. I didn’t like most of the songs here, but I still have to be honest and say that among all the national selections this coming weekend, it’s actually one of the stronger ones – which unfortunately says quite a lot about this season.
My winner is former (not so distant) representative Sissal. In my opinion, she comes with a stronger song than last year (which I also liked), and I believe she can replicate the achievement and qualify for the final once again. Good luck, Denmark – I hope you choose wisely.
Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Ericka Jane – “Death Of Me”
I didn’t expect one of my favorites of the season to come from the Danish selection – that probably highlights just how weak the season currently is. Ericka Jane with “Death of Me” may be very Swedish in style, but it simply feels good. It’s upbeat and catchy, and just fun to listen to again and again! With the right staging, this definitely qualifies for the final, and right now it surpasses most of the songs from Melodifestivalen itself.
Adiel Shtainmetz: First Place – Ericka Jane – “Death Of Me”
The Danish selection is weak as usual – a kind of budget Melodifestivalen. My first place goes to “Death of Me” by Ericka Jane. True, it’s not the most innovative or unique entry out there, but it’s extremely well-produced, grabs you from the first listen, and is incredibly catchy and addictive.
In my opinion, Erika’s song is much better than that of the favorite to win – Sissal, who came with a decent song and nothing more. I feel like the support for Sissal is somewhat blind because of last year. I really hope Denmark surprises us and doesn’t go with the obvious choice!
Maor Heumann: First Place – Myrkur – “Touch My Love And Die”
For years I’ve been waiting for Myrkur to try her luck in the Danish selection, and I couldn’t have asked for a better song! The mysterious Danish creator who blends folk and black metal in Danish and English submits a song that stands out thanks to its heavy atmosphere, dark theme of dangerous and toxic love – and the combination with Myrkur’s angelic voice, which turns desire into an especially effective tool of seduction.
After the failures of distortion-heavy songs in the Maltese and Montenegrin selections, it’s finally our turn, metal lovers, to enjoy some joyful noise on the Vienna stage.
Shahar “Chacha” Asido: First Place – Ericka Jane – “Death Of Me”
Half of Denmark’s selection pleasantly surprised me, and I’m sure my first place might not resonate with many people. My number one is Ericka! A song with a good beat, slightly provocative, and in my opinion simply beautiful and enjoyable to listen to.
Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Ericka Jane – “Death Of Me”
I chose the only song in Denmark’s Eurovision selection that actually makes me feel alive – “Death of Me” (the irony) by Ericka Jane. The selection itself is at a very low level, and the rest of my ranking doesn’t really reflect a preference between songs because they’re all equally terrible. That said, I wouldn’t oppose another win for Sissal, if only to get another number from her on the Eurofalsh stage performed by Dudit! Best of luck to us – and especially to Ericka, because Denmark’s Eurovision chances this year rest entirely on her shoulders.
Tal Dahan: First Place – Ericka Jane – “Death Of Me”
The song I chose as my number one in Denmark’s Eurovision selection, which I really hope makes it to the Eurovision stage, is “Death of Me” by Ericka Jane! The song is simply well-crafted, schlager in exactly the right amount (which is as much as possible), upbeat, and reminiscent of early 2000s Scandinavian hits. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but I can absolutely imagine it playing every night at the Euroclub in Vienna!
Oscar Diefenthal: First Place – Sissal – “Infinity”
It seems the beauty blender is returning to the Eurovision stage this year, and Sissal is back in the Danish selection with a different yet much more precise, mature, and emotional song. After receiving only 8 points last year, it’s clear there’s a declared intention to correct the result in this Danish comeback. The artistic direction is sharper, the presence more confident, and the message comes across. In my view, all signs point to one thing: Sissal is winning the Danish selection.
Talya Raviv: First Place – Sissal – “Infinity”
Neta Geffen: First Place – Myrkur – “Touch My Love And Die”
If there’s one thing Denmark excels at, it’s choosing the most mediocre and generic songs for Eurovision. This year as well, most of the Danish selection songs pass by the ear without leaving a meaningful impression. I chose Myrkur’s song specifically because it breaks the familiar pattern. There’s a dark song here with emotional depth. If Denmark wants to stand out this year instead of fading into the background, this is the right direction.
Talor Fishler: First Place – Sander Sanchez – “Two Spirits”
Sander Sanchez brings his “Two Spirits” this year with the song “Two Spirits” – a fantastic combination of polished Danish pop and the Native American heritage of his ancestors. The title refers to a deep concept in Native American culture describing a person who embodies both feminine and masculine qualities.
Sanchez successfully weaves traditional elements into his queer identity, layering double meanings in a sophisticated and moving way. Precisely because of this depth, and at a time when tensions between the United States and Denmark are high, he is my unequivocal winner of the Danish selection this year.
Maayan Eli: First Place – Myrkur – “Touch My Love And Die”
For a moment I thought I was accidentally listening to a Reel sound on BookTok. The song isn’t perfect and needs some polishing, but I love the light gothic atmosphere and the touches of dark romance. It’s a kind of pleasant torment that belongs to the realms of vampires and werewolves. It’s nice to listen to, and I have a feeling it would really stand out if it made it to Eurovision.

Denmark at Eurovision 2025
“Hallucination” is the song performed by singer Sissal, who represented Denmark in the grand final of Eurovision 2025. Denmark qualified for the grand final after placing eighth in the second semi-final with 61 points, marking the country’s first qualification for the final after four consecutive years of remaining in the semi-finals. In the grand final, Denmark received 45 points from the jury and just 2 points from the public, finishing in 23rd place overall.
Eurovision 2026: This will be Denmark’s 54th participation in Eurovision. Denmark joined the competition in 1957 and has won it three times over the years. Denmark’s last victory was in Eurovision 2013 with the song “Only Teardrops” performed by singer Emmelie de Forest.
