The Croatian national broadcaster, HRT, has opened registration for the Croatian Eurovision national final, “Dora 2025,” whose winner will represent Croatia at Eurovision 2025 to be held in Basel, Switzerland.

Croatia has officially launched the submission process for its national Eurovision selection, “Dora 2025.” Following the country’s confirmation of participation in May, shortly after the Eurovision final in Malmö, Croatian national broadcaster HRT has announced the rules and timeline for their selection process.

The submission window opened today, September 20, and will remain open until November 15. Aspiring artists and songwriters have nearly two months to prepare their entries for this prestigious competition.

Key Details of the Selection Process:

The full format of the Croatian national final  will be revealed no later than the 20th of January 2025. The national final is scheduled to take place in February 2025 and will be broadcast live. The winner of “Dora 2025” will be determined through a combination of votes from an expert jury and the public. This dual voting process aims to ensure a fair and comprehensive selection of Croatia’s representative for Eurovision 2025.

Competition Rules:

  • Artists must complete an application form on the HRT website
  • Only unreleased songs are eligible
  • Songwriters must hold rights to both lyrics and melody
  • Performers must be Croatian citizens
  • Auto-tune and pitch correction effects are prohibited
  • Pre-recorded backing vocals are allowed
  • Songs can be in Croatian or any European language

Interested artists meeting these criteria can submit their entries through the official HRT link – Click here!

A professional jury will select 24 songs from all submissions to compete in the national final. Additionally, four backup songs will be chosen in case of withdrawals or disqualifications. Interestingly, Baby Lasagna’s song, which represented Croatia at Eurovision 2024, was initially selected as a backup and only entered the competition after another contestant withdrew.

This early start to the selection process demonstrates Croatia’s commitment to finding a strong entry for Eurovision 2025. With these clear guidelines and ample preparation time, “Dora 2025” promises to be an exciting competition for both artists and Eurovision fans alike.
