Belgian sources reveal contestants expected to participate in the Eurovision national selection, Eurosong 2025.
The Belgian newspaper HLN has revealed the identities of four out of eight contestants expected to participate in the Belgian Eurovision national selection “Eurosong” for Eurovision 2025. The Flemish national broadcaster VRT, which manages the selection, has not confirmed the news, but this source has proven reliable in the past.
VRT’s Selection Process
VRT announced the selection of the Belgian representative through the “Eurosong” format even before the Eurovision 2024 contest took place. After singer Mustii‘s failure to qualify for the Eurovision final, it was reported that the broadcaster began approaching various artists to participate in the selection. Eventually, a professional jury of more than thirty members chose eight artists to compete in the national final.
Revealed Contestants
Although VRT is trying to keep the identities of the participants secret at this stage, HLN unofficially revealed the names of five singers:
- Jelle Van Dael: Broke into the spotlight in 2008 when chosen in a talent competition to be the new singer of the electronic music group Lasgo. Earlier this year, she participated in the “Sing Again” program broadcast on VRT.
2. LEEZ: The stage name of Lisa Van Rossem, sister of Joris Van Rossem, known as the singer Metejoor.
3. Noémie Wolfs: Was the lead singer of the band Hooverphonic from 2010 to 2015. The band represented Belgium in 2020 with “Release Me” and in 2021 with “The Wrong Place“, reaching ninth place in the final. After missing the opportunity to participate in Eurovision with the band, will she succeed as a solo artist this time?
4. Red Sebastian: The stage name of Seppe Herremans, who also participated in the singing show “Sing Again”, reaching the final and even performing a duet with Jelle Van Dael.
The newspaper also raises additional speculations about participants such as Grace Khuabi, who won the Flemish version of “The Voice” in 2021, broadcast on VTM.
Eurosong 2025 Format
At this stage, not much is known about the format of the Belgian Eurovision national selection. The newspaper reports that two semi-finals will be held for the competition, and the “Eurosong” final will be broadcast live.
Belgium in Eurovision 2024
Singer Mustii represented Belgium in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2024 with the song “Before The Party’s Over”. The singer and song were chosen through an internal selection by the Belgian national broadcaster. In the Eurovision semi-final, the song placed 13th with 18 points, and therefore did not advance to the grand final. This is Belgium’s lowest result since Eurovision 2019, when Belgium also failed to qualify for the final and placed 13th in the semi-final.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Belgium’s 66th participation in Eurovision. Belgium joined the competition in 1956 and was one of the seven founding countries. Belgium achieved its best result in Eurovision 1986 when singer Sandra Kim won first place with the song “J’aime la vie”.
