Red Sebastian:

Seppe Herremans, or by his stage name Red Sebastian, at the age of 25, is already a phenomenon in the Belgian music industry thanks to a career that began at an early age and his exceptional talent.

His passion for Eurovision started at a young age with watching the Belgian national selection for Eurovision competitions and the Junior Eurovision. Beyond his love for Eurovision, he also has a rich musical background. Starting from piano lessons at the music academy in his hometown to studies at the conservatory, where he met teachers who deeply influenced his vocal abilities and his songwriting. Gustaph, who represented Belgium in Eurovision 2023, was one of his teachers and had a significant impact on him.

Strobe Lights“:

The song “Strobe Lights” invites the listener on a journey of lights and sensations, while describing an abstract and magical reality where time and place lose their usual meaning. Against the metaphorical backdrop of flashing lights, the song depicts a world where sensory experiences merge with the environment—the open spaces, floating like a cotton candy cloud, and eyes losing themselves in a gaze. The singer invites the listener to join him on a journey where familiar reality dissolves into a fantasy akin to the wonders of fairy tales.

The song offers a passage through the “mirror of dimensions” to a world where time stands still—where words are unnecessary to feel connection, and love is the ultimate destination. The reference to “Wonderland” and the figure of Alice reinforces the feeling of traveling to another, fantastical world filled with wonders not bound by the laws of familiar reality. Thus, the song develops a narrative framework where freedom and elevation are an integral part of the human experience, turning the musical journey into an experience of spiritual and sensory liberation.

The song was written by the singer himself along with Ameerah Astrid Roelants, Willem Vanderstichele, and Billie Bentein.

Roelants contended with two songs for the right to represent Belgium in the 2023 national selection, co-wrote a song for the 2017 British Eurovision national selection, and co-wrote the song “Pull Up” by the singer Grace. Bentein was a background singer in the song “Would You?” by the singer Iris, who represented Belgium in Eurovision 2012 and did not advance past the semi-finals. Vanderstichele co-wrote most of the songs in this year’s Belgian Eurovision national selection, including “Fille à papa,” “Pull Up,” “Monster,” and “Air Balloon.”

Lyrics of “Strobe lights”:

Strobe lights, getting lost in your eyes
Cotton candy haze, floating up in space

Falling where up is down
Screaming but won’t make a sound
Alice, show me your hand
Take it to wonderland

Step into the mirror to bright new dimensions
Where no words are needed to feel the connection
Where clocks never tick and where love is the ending
Come down through the looking glass

Strobe lights, getting lost in your eyes
Cotton candy haze, we’ll float around in space
Skintight, never felt so alive
Caught up in this maze
It’s where I wanna stay

Flying deep underground
Silence never felt so loud

Step into the mirror to bright new dimensions
Where no words are needed to feel the connection
Where clocks never tick and where love is the ending
Come down through the looking glass

Strobe lights, getting lost in your eyes
Cotton candy haze, we’ll float around in space
Skintight, I feel so alive
Caught up in this maze
It’s where I wanna stay

That’s where I wanna stay
That’s where I wanna ѕtаy
