Nine years after his Eurovision appearance: Is Poland’s Eurovision 2016 representative on the way to a comeback? Amid swirling rumors surrounding the topic, Michał Szpak confirms he is seriously considering it.
Michał Szpak, Poland’s representative at Eurovision 2016, is one of the prominent names many fans want to see return to the competition. This desire is understandable, given his impressive eighth-place finish at Eurovision and third place in the public vote with the song “Color Of Your Life”. Szpak’s performance brought Poland its third-highest result in the country’s Eurovision history to date.
Michał Szpak’s Eurovision Success and Subsequent Career
Since Eurovision 2016, Michał Szpak has maintained a successful career in Poland, amassing a large fan base. He currently serves as a judge on the reality TV show “The Voice of Poland”. In the national Eurovision selection, Szpak triumphed over notable competitors, including Edyta Górniak, who represented Poland in its first Eurovision participation in 1994 and still holds the country’s record with a second-place finish.
Potential Return to Eurovision
Following a round of rumors about the singer’s potential return to the competition, Szpak has officially confirmed that he has given it serious thought and has plans in mind. Recently, Szpak appeared on the YouTube channel “Polecany z WWA“, where he officially confirmed that he had indeed considered a second Eurovision attempt:
“I am in contact with a group of people, producers who wrote the song ‘Tattoo’ (which won Eurovision 2023) for Loreen. They really want me to participate again. We’ll see how it goes. I also have a plan in mind.” He tempers expectations slightly by adding: “I don’t know if it’s at the top of my priority list right now, but I’m not saying no, because it was absolutely an exceptional experience. I’ve already caused a havoc once, maybe it’s time for another one.”
