Rumors are spreading: Is young singer Emma Kok a potential candidate to represent the Netherlands at Eurovision 2025?
Along with confirming the Netherlands’ participation in Eurovision 2025, the Dutch national broadcaster AVROTROS opened its song submission window. The registration closed last Friday (November 22), with the decision expected to be made in December. Meanwhile, rumors are circulating. Many names of well-known singers, including some who have previously participated in Eurovision, have been suggested as possibilities to represent the Netherlands in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Now, unofficial sources report that young singer Emma Kok has also submitted a song to the national broadcaster.
Emma Kok: A Rising Star with a Unique Story
Emma Kok is a young and talented Dutch singer born on March 12, 2008 (16 years old) in Maastricht, Netherlands. She first gained fame in 2021 when she won the tenth season of “The Voice Kids” in the Netherlands. In 2023, she gained international attention after performing with renowned violinist and conductor André Rieu and his orchestra, singing “Voilà,” the song that placed second at Eurovision 2021. This performance quickly went viral, amassing over 75 million views.
Emma faces daily challenges due to a condition called gastroparesis (stomach paralysis), which she has had since she was nine months old. As a result, she cannot eat normally and relies on tube feeding directly to her stomach. Despite these challenges, Emma has not let her medical condition hold her back. In 2023, inspired by her own experiences, she established the ‘Gastrostars’ foundation to help other patients with gastroparesis.
From Cover Artist to Potential Eurovision Contestant
While Emma initially gained recognition for her rendition of the French Eurovision entry “Voilà,” she has also performed other Eurovision songs, including Noa Kirel‘s “Unicorn.” Her versatility and powerful voice have made her a favorite among Eurovision fans.
The possibility of Emma Kok representing the Netherlands at Eurovision 2025 has generated excitement among fans and music industry observers. Her unique story, combined with her undeniable talent, could make her a compelling choice for the Dutch delegation.
As the selection process continues, all eyes will be on AVROTROS to see if Emma Kok or another talented artist will be chosen to carry the Dutch flag at Eurovision 2025.

Netherlands in Eurovision 2024
“Europapa” is the name of the song performed by Joost Klein in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2024. The Netherlands qualified for the grand final after securing second place in the second semi-final with 182 points. However, the singer was disqualified and did not participate in the grand final due to a violent incident involving him and a camerawoman from the Swedish Eurovision production team.
This marks the second consecutive time that the Netherlands has not competed in the grand final and the first time in the contest’s history that a participant was disqualified just hours before the grand final.
Eurovision 2025: This will be the Netherlands’ 65th participation in Eurovision. The Netherlands joined the competition in 1956, was one of the seven founding countries, and has won it five times over the years. The Netherlands’ last victory was at Eurovision 2019 with the song “Arcade” performed by singer Duncan Laurence.
