The Ukrainian National Broadcaster, Suspilne, has announced the three judges for the Eurovision pre-selection final, “Vidbir 2025,” to be held on February 8th. The judges were chosen through an online vote by the Ukrainian public.

The Ukrainian National Broadcaster, Suspilne, has revealed the names of the judges for the Eurovision pre-selection “Vidbir 2025.” The online voting was open for about a week, and by its end, more than 440,000 Ukrainians had voted, selecting three judges from the list who will constitute 50% of the votes in the pre-selection on February 8th.




The Selected Judges

  • Jamala: The winner of Eurovision 2016 with the song “1944,” who also judged last year’s pre-selection. This will be her seventh time judging the Ukrainian Eurovision pre-selection, and she received 35.28% of the votes this year.
  • Serhiy Tanchynets: The lead singer of the band BEZ Limitations, who also judged last year’s pre-selection and received 20.24% of the votes this year.
  • Kateryna Pavlenko: The lead singer of the band Go_A, who represented Ukraine in Eurovision 2021, finishing fifth (and was scheduled to represent the country in Eurovision 2020, which was canceled). She received 11.84% of the votes.

Other Candidates Who Were Not Selected

  • Andriy Hutsulyak: Ukraine’s representative in Eurovision 2023 as part of the duo Tvorchi.
  • Dymtro Zezyulin: Lead singer of the band LATEXFAUNA.
  • Oleh Psyuk: Winner of Eurovision 2022 as part of the band Kalush Orchestra.
  • Anna Svyrydova: Manager of the radio station “Pyatnitsa” and host of the YouTube show “Muzroom.”
  • Katya Tsaryk: Film director and screenwriter.
  • Sasha Chemerov: Musician, singer, and producer.
  • Dymtro Shurov: Musical producer for the Ukrainian Eurovision pre-selection “Vidbir” in 2022 and 2023.

The three selected judges will be required to sign an agreement with the National Broadcaster and will then be officially confirmed. If any of the judges are unable to sign the agreement, their place on the judging panel will be given to the candidate who received the next highest number of votes.

One more contestant from the remaining 11 will join them through a public vote. The full list of finalists will be announced on January 17th.

Among the contestants are several familiar names:

  • Ziferblat – Competed in last year’s Ukrainian national selection and reached second place with their song “Place I Call Home“.
  • Khayat – Competed in the 2020 Ukrainian national selection with his song “Call for Love” and reached second place.


As mentioned, one additional contestant from the 11 not initially chosen will be selected through online public voting. The complete list of contestants, which will include 10 participants, will be revealed on January 17th.

Among these you can find:

  • Yagody – Competed in last year’s Ukrainian national selection and reached fifth place with his song “Tsunamia“.
  • Krylata – Competed in last year’s Ukrainian national selection with her song “Queen” but was eliminated in the first stage.
  • Fiinka – Competed in the 2023 Ukrainian national selection and reached fourth place with her song “Dovbush“.

Producer’s Statement and Selection Format

Tina Karol, the producer of the national selection, stated:

“The nine final contestants of the Eurovision 2025 national selection have been announced. Talented artists singing in various styles are already starting to prepare for their performance in the final. You will also have the opportunity to choose a contestant in the final by voting on the ‘Diya’ app. One out of eleven.”

The national final, likely to be held on February 8th, will feature 10 contestants. The winner of the national selection will be chosen by a combination of public voting (50%) and jury voting (50%) and will represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2025 to be held in Basel, Switzerland.


Ukraine in Eurovision 2024

Jerry Heil and Alyona Alyona represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Teresa & Maria.” The duo won the Ukrainian national selection “Vidbir 2024” and finished third in the Eurovision final with 453 points.

Their entry is notable for being the first since 2002 to place in the top 5 while performing second in the running order, a position traditionally considered challenging in Eurovision statistics.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Ukraine’s 20th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Ukraine joined the competition in 2003 and has won it three times. Ukraine’s last victory was in Eurovision 2022 with the song “Stefania” performed by Kalush Orchestra.
