Moldova’s national broadcaster, TRM, revealed that the Eurovision pre-selection final “Selecția Națională 2025″ will take place on February 22nd. Ten contestants will compete to represent the country at Eurovision 2025.

Moldova’s national broadcaster, TRM, has announced that the final of the local Eurovision pre-selection “Selecția Națională 2025” will take place on Saturday, February 22nd. Apart from this information, it appears that the national broadcaster is facing significant challenges: TRM has issued an official statement seeking a production company to produce the Eurovision pre-selection. As a reminder, the Moldovan national broadcaster has a very limited budget for Eurovision-related activities.

Song Selection Process

After songs were submitted to the Moldovan national broadcaster, a professional committee convened to select the submitted entries. Singers deemed suitable were invited to live auditions, scheduled for January 18th. Following the auditions, ten artists will be chosen to compete in the final.

Final Event Details

The final event of “Selecția Națională 2025” will be held on February 22nd, 2025, and will be broadcast on TRM and YouTube. The winner will be chosen through a combination of public voting (50%) and jury voting (50%). This artist will represent Moldova at Eurovision 2025 in Basel. It’s worth noting that in case of a tie, the competition organizers will have the right to decide and determine the winner.

Moldova’s Eurovision Journey

In recent years, Moldova has become a prominent player in Eurovision with unforgettable performances, despite being a poor country with a national broadcaster that doesn’t receive substantial funding. Moldova hopes to recover from last year’s setback, where they failed to qualify for the final, and return to their previous streak of good results.

Moldova in Eurovision 2024

Natalia Barbu represented Moldova in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 with the song “In the Middle”, after winning first place in the local national final. The song reached 13th place in the first semi-final, with only 20 points, and did not qualify for the grand final. This is Moldova’s lowest result in Eurovision since 2016, when Moldova reached 17th place in the semi-final.
