Members of the Euromix editorial team convened to vote for the competing songs in Luxembourg Song Contest. Who should represent Luxembourg at Eurovision according to the editorial team?
The Luxembourgish Eurovision national selection, “Luxembourg Song Contest”, is set to take place tonight at 20:00, featuring 7 contestants. The winner of this local competition will represent Luxembourg at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. In anticipation of this event, Euromix editorial team members gathered to listen to the participating songs and select their favorites from the Luxembourgish national selection.
Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Luxembourg?
Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”
Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”
Singer Laura Thorn brings a particularly surprising song to the pre-selection! It’s impossible to ignore the similarity of the song and its style to the 1965 Eurovision winning song by singer France Gall. It’s more modern, admittedly, but still retains the Luxembourg-French flavor that was characteristic of Luxembourg in Eurovision during its early years in the competition. I must say that this year’s Luxembourg pre-selection isn’t particularly strong, and I don’t see many other options in the pre-selection that will make it to the final. This song is Luxembourg’s safe bet, and a worthy heir to our Tali Golergant!
Ronnie Glik: First Place – Luzac – “Je Danse”
I chose Luzac for my first place, the only song I managed to connect with in this pre-selection. We’re talking about a guy who seems really talented, a song in French (finally!) and a combination of ballad and crazy rock together with weird noises, which is one of the most successful combinations in my opinion. I strongly support him but I’m doubtful about what’s going to happen on stage, it will either be a crazy success or a serious fall. Hopefully, the performance will be captivating and he’ll manage to sing live, this is definitely the guy who should inherit Tali the Queen and Mother’s place, and the song that deserves to win the pre-selection and will bring Luxembourg a great result!
Shahar Asido: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”
The song that’s in my first place is “La Poupée Monte Le Son”. The song is performed in French which gives it uniqueness from the rest of the songs. I’m sure some of you noticed that the song is very reminiscent of the 1965 Eurovision winning song “Poupée de cire, poupée de son” (albeit in a more innovative way) but it’s one of my all-time favorite songs! Therefore, despite my deliberation with the song “Human Eyes”, I decided to go with Laura’s happy and special song.
Aviad Berger: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”
Contrary to popular opinion, I actually like the Luxembourg pre-selection and think that with the right staging, some of the songs here can do quite well in the final. True, it’s not last year’s pre-selection in any aspect. True, Tali isn’t here (and that’s a shame), and still, there are great songs here, and above all, Laura Thorn’s song that strongly touched my heart, with a catchy melody, a cute message, and a special voice. Laura is going to conquer Luxembourg and Europe. And now excuse me, I’m going to pray that no one in Luxembourg is a spoilsport, because I don’t have the mental strength to hate Luxembourg this year.
Guy Solo: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”
Exactly 60 years after France Gall’s victory with the song “Poupée de cire, poupée de son” (translated as “Wax Doll, Rag Doll”), Laura Thorn, a relatively unknown singer from Luxembourg, comes forward with the song “La Poupée Monte Le Son” (translated as “The Doll Turns Up the Sound”). Laura, who stumbled into the contest after receiving an unexpected message from a Parisian producer offering her the song, manages to deliver its message with immense power. The feminist and empowering themes in her song make her the rightful choice for victory: “If you planned to display me in your shop window, alongside your collection of dolls, sorry for you, but I decide for myself.” Douze points for Laura!
Roy Moreno: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”
Laura’s song was the first Eurovision 2025 track that stuck in my head from the very first listen and has refused to leave ever since—and I’m not complaining! Sixty years after France Gall’s legendary victory, this song, inspired by it, is in my opinion the best choice Luxembourg can make from this pre-selection! It’s an upbeat and incredibly catchy track with staging potential for a super fun performance. I believe that if Laura delivers a strong live performance of this song, she could replicate Tali’s success from Eurovision 2024!
Tal Dahan: First Place – Rafa Ela – “No, Thank You”
I debated a lot between Rafa Ela’s two songs and Laura Thorn’s, but in the end, I decided to go with my guilty pleasure, “No, Thank You.” While the song doesn’t necessarily bring anything new, I always enjoy listening to it—it’s upbeat and danceable, and there’s a good chance the singer will deliver an explosive stage performance! However, I believe that the song that would bring Luxembourg the best result from this pre-selection is Laura’s track, which pays homage to France Gall’s Eurovision victory from 50 years ago.
Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Laura Thorn – “La Poupée Monte Le Son”

Luxembourg in Eurovision 2024
“Fighter” is the name of the song performed by Tali, who was chosen to represent Luxembourg after winning the local Eurovision pre-selection. Luxembourg advanced to the grand final after securing fifth place in the first semi-final with 117 points, and in the grand final, they finished in 13th place with 103 points.
Luxembourg returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 after a 31-year absence and achieved significant success.
Eurovision 2025: This will be Luxembourg’s 39th participation in Eurovision. Luxembourg joined the competition in 1956, was one of the seven founding countries, and has won it five times over the years. Luxembourg’s last victory was at Eurovision 1983 with the song “Si la vie est cadeau” performed by singer Corinne Hermès. In 2024, Luxembourg returned to the competition after a 31-year absence.
