Listen to Portugal’s Entry for Eurovision 2025:
The band stands on the stage of “Festival da Canção 2025,” dressed in light colors, accompanied by relatively weak blue lighting. The performance begins and continues in a calm and pleasant manner, evoking a magical feeling reminiscent of Salvador Sobral, though not to the same level. The lead singer performs the song vocally well while holding a guitar, with the other band members positioned elsewhere on stage with their instruments, without any special movement. The song is about nostalgia and longing of a person who is searching for his place in the world, feeling disconnected from the big city and drawn to his true home, the island of Madeira.
The song “Deslocado” (translated as: “Displaced”) expresses the deep feelings of someone who doesn’t feel they belong in their current environment and expresses their intense longing for their true home, the island of Madeira in Portugal. The narrator in the song describes their journey, as they shift in their thoughts between the big city and the longing for home, with images of concrete and lack of authenticity compared to the tranquility and peace of the island. The song also conveys the narrator’s strong connection to their homeland, where they find calm and serenity, with descriptions of open spaces and a place that gives them strength. Every word in the song is filled with the pain of leaving home and the anticipation of returning, making the song’s message both emotional and touching.
The band won “Festival da Canção 2025” held tonight (Saturday), competing against 11 other contenders. Napa came in fourth place in the jury vote and second place in the public vote at home.
During the evening, Portugal’s representative for Eurovision 2024, ioanda, performed a reworked version of the song “Grito.” Watch the performance:

Conto os dias para mim
Com a mala arrumada
Já quase não cabia
A saudade acumulada
Do azul vejo o jardim
Mesmo por trás da asa
Mãe, olha a janela
Que eu tou a chegar a casa
Que eu tou a chegar a casa
Que eu tou a chegar a casa
Que eu tou a chegar a casa
Por mais que possa parecer
Eu nunca vou pertencer
Àquela cidade
O mar de gente
O sol diferente
O monte de betão
Não me provoca nada
Não me convoca casa
Porque eu
Vim de longe, eu vim do meio
Do mar no coração
Do oceano eu tenho a vida inteira
O meu caminho eu faço a pensar
Em regressar
À minha casa, ilha, paz, Madeira
Se eu te explicar palavra a palavra
Nunca vais entender a dor que me cala
A solidão que assombra a hora da partida
Carrego o sossego de poder voltar
Mãe, olha a janela que eu tou a chegar
Por mais que possa parecer
Eu nunca vou pertencer
Àquela cidade
O mar de gente
O sol diferente
O monte de betão
Não me provoca nada
Não me convoca
O mar de gente
O sol diferente
O monte de betão
Não me provoca nada
Não me convoca caѕа
