San Marino at Eurovision 2025: Senhit, who represented San Marino in Eurovision 2021, returns to the contest as the official vote spokesperson for San Marino in Basel. What surprises await during the celebration of 15 years of participation?

During a press conference held this morning at San Marino’s Government Palace, it was announced that Senhit, San Marino’s representative at Eurovision 2021, will serve as the official vote announcer for San Marino during the Eurovision 2025 Grand Final in Basel, Switzerland, on May 17th. The press conference was jointly organized by San Marino’s national broadcaster RTV, Italy’s national broadcaster RAI, and San Marino’s Secretariat of State for Tourism and Communication.

Senhit, an Eritrean decent Italian singer from Bologna, represented San Marino in Eurovision 2011 with “Stand By“, under her former name Senit (the letter H added by her in 2014), returned in 2021 with “Adrenalina“, and was selected for the canceled 2020 edition with “Freaky“. She will join the delegation in Basel by May 15th and act as an official ambassador for Eurovision on behalf of RTV. Following her ambassadorial duties, she will return to San Marino to prepare for presenting the votes during the Grand Final on May 17th.

Following Valentina Monetta’s Path

Senhit’s role as a vote presenter mirrors a precedent set by Valentina Monetta in 2015. Monetta joined San Marino’s delegation in Austria and appeared on European screens as the vote announcer during that year’s Grand Final.

The choice of Senhit, a beloved figure among Eurovision fans, highlights San Marino’s commitment to strengthening its presence at the contest – even when not directly competing with a song.

Clear Aspirations: “We’re Coming to Basel to Win”

The press conference revealed ambitions beyond symbolic gestures. Federico Pedini Amati, Secretary of State for Tourism and Communication, expressed high hopes:

“I want to go to Basel to win. We have this ambition, and with Gabry Ponte, we can achieve it. If we win? We’ll see… maybe host Eurovision in Rimini or Sicily—or perhaps build a mobile venue. Certainly, we’ll organize it alongside Italy’s national broadcaster.”

Strengthening European Presence: Collaborations and Junior Eurovision

San Marino is expanding its influence in European media beyond Eurovision itself. Pedini Amati emphasized efforts to establish San Marino as a significant partner:

“San Marino wants to be a key player in Europe. That’s why we organized our national selection with Massimo Bonelli as artistic director and partnered with Italy’s broadcaster – raising song quality significantly. Plus, we’ve returned to Junior Eurovision.”

Record Numbers: The Largest Media Campaign in San Marino’s History

Roberto Sergio, CEO of RTV and Italy’s national broadcaster RAI, shared impressive statistics from San Marino’s pre-Eurovision campaign:

“The work done by San Marino was essential—without it, nothing would have been possible. Together with the Italian national broadcaster RAI staff, we created the largest media campaign in our republic’s history. The numbers speak for themselves.”

And not just numbers, those impressive key figures include:

  • Over 1,000 articles published across print and online media.

  • Around 50 TV programs dedicated to the competition between February 13th and March 11th.

  • 73 million impressions.

  • 110 TV broadcasts promoting the contest on RAI channels.

  • 39 radio broadcasts on “Rai Radio2.”

  • Over 83,000 VOD views on March 8th.

  • An average of 31,520 connected devices per minute.

  • More than 400,000 VOD views on RAIPlay platform by Italian national broadcaster RAI.

These figures exclude data from San Marino’s national broadcaster RTV or DAB radio listeners – indicating even greater exposure.

Sergio expressed satisfaction:

“I’m thrilled with these results and the media resonance generated – but this is just the beginning compared to what lies ahead. My dual role at RTV and RAI allowed us to amplify visibility further. Credit also goes to artistic director Massimo Bonelli and Denny Montesi from Media Evolution for their exceptional production quality.”

Celebrating 15 Years of Participation

Gabry Ponte will perform “Tutta L’Italia” (in English: “All Italy”) as San Marino marks its 15th participation since debuting in Eurovision in 2008 (excluding non-participation years 2009–2010 and cancellation in 2020).

When asked about potential celebrations for this milestone, Sergio and Pedini Amati hinted at surprises:

“We’ve already issued a commemorative stamp, and Eurovision might feature in new events we’re planning with broadcasters. Now that you mention it – who knows? Maybe something special will happen by May.”

The Unique Connection Between San Marino and Italy

San Marino—a microstate surrounded by Italy—shares close economic and cultural ties with its neighbor. Its national broadcaster RTV collaborates extensively with RAI on content production, event participation, and technical expertise. This partnership enables high-quality programming and involvement in international events like Eurovision.

San Marino at Eurovision 2025

“Tutta L’Italia” (translated as: “All of Italy”) is the song that Gabry Ponte will perform to represent San Marino at Eurovision 2025, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland. He will perform his song for the first time in the second part of the first semifinal on May 13th. The song was written by the artist himself along with Edwyn Roberts Clark and Andrea Bonomo, who participated in and wrote many songs for the Sanremo Festival, which serves as the Italian Eurovision selection. The song is performed in Italian. Ponte represented Austria at Eurovision 2022 as a producer and songwriter for the song “Halo”, performed by LUM!X feat. Pia Maria.

The inspiration for the song comes from the Italian essence, as the speaker highlights the local lifestyle with food, drink, social connections, and even politics. The song includes references to a lifestyle of freedom and liberation, with quotes about situations such as drinking alcohol and spending time in clubs.

Currently, San Marino is ranked 17th in the betting odds ahead of Eurovision 2025.

Gabry Ponte – Who Are You?

Gabriele “Gabry” Ponte (born April 20th, 1973) is an Italian musician, DJ, and producer, best known as a member of the Italian dance group Eiffel 65. He gained fame in 1998 when he produced the international hit “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”, which topped global charts. His work, both as part of Eiffel 65 and as a solo producer, has made a significant impact on the electronic and dance music genre. In 2005, Ponte announced his departure from Eiffel 65 to pursue a solo career and, in 2006, founded the “Dance and Love” label, which became one of the most important independent dance labels in Italy.

Ponte represented Austria at Eurovision 2022 as a producer and co-writer for the song “Halo”, performed by LUM!X and Pia Maria. In his live performances, Ponte has performed approximately 90 shows across 11 countries, before over 700,000 spectators. He composed and produced the official theme song for the Sanremo Festival 2025, “Tutta l’Italia”, which became a massive hit in Italy. He also performed this song as a guest at the Sanremo Festival this year in an unforgettable performance. Watch the performance here:
