“Deslocado” (translated as: “Displaced”) is the song that will be performed by NAPA band, representing Portugal as song number 13 at Eurovision 2025’s first semi-fina on May 13 in Basel, Switzerland. The song was written by the band members. This is the first song by the creators at Eurovision. The song is performed in Portuguese.
The song expresses the deep feelings of someone who doesn’t feel they belong in their current environment and expresses their intense longing for their true home, the island of Madeira in Portugal. The narrator in the song describes their journey, as they shift in their thoughts between the big city and the longing for home, with images of concrete and lack of authenticity compared to the tranquility and peace of the island. The song also conveys the narrator’s strong connection to their homeland, where they find calm and serenity, with descriptions of open spaces and a place that gives them strength. Every word in the song is filled with the pain of leaving home and the anticipation of returning, making the song’s message both emotional and touching.
Currently, Portugal is ranked 31nd in the betting odds for Eurovision 2025.
