Sweden’s Eurovision 2025 representatives, KAJ, held their second rehearsal in Basel with the song “Bara Bada Bastu“. Stay tuned for all updates from Switzerland.

KAJ, Sweden’s representatives, were the sixth act to rehearse today on the Eurovision 2025 stage with his song “Bara Bada Bastu.” KAJ will perform as song number 6 in the first semi-final, scheduled for May 13th.

In a video posted on the official Eurovision Instagram page, the band members can be seen sitting in a sauna-like setup on stage (similar to the one used in Melodifestivalen), with three dancers behind them instead of four. The dancers are covered in towels and wearing bucket hats. To our surprise, despite the allowance of pre-recorded backing vocals, all three dancers are equipped with headset microphones and are singing live alongside the band. Surrounding the group and the dancers are spruce trees, with a campfire burning in front of them.

More Details About Sweden’s Performance:

KAJ, who sing about the Swedish sauna experience, have implemented the changes promised during their Melodifestivalen stage direction. However, in a traditional fashion, the overall staging remains quite similar – the band takes the stage in their iconic green suits, and the sauna set has been slightly altered from the national final version to allow for easier assembly and disassembly. Additionally, three dancers now accompany the band on stage, ensuring that the total number of people does not exceed the permitted limit.

This year, the full-width and full-height LED screen at the back of the stage allows artists to create highly impactful graphic backdrops. KAJ have used the screen to showcase forest landscapes and reindeer, perfectly complementing the atmosphere of their song. The mood is maintained until the song’s modulation, at which point the entire arena transforms into a large neon and laser light party, creating an epic finale.

KAJ have brought fir trees to the stage for their performance-though it is unknown whether the trees are real or artificial-and the sausage featured at the beginning of the song is now significantly larger than the one used during the national final.

Sweden at Eurovision 2025:

“Bara bada bastu” (in English: “Just take a sauna”) is the title of the song that will be performed by band KAJ, who will represent Sweden in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2025, taking place on May 13th in Basel, Switzerland. The song was written by the band members – Kevin Holmström, Axel Åhman, and Jakob Norrgård – along with Anderz Wrethov, Kristoffer Strandberg, and Robert Skowronski.

Wrethov is no stranger to the Eurovision world, having written numerous Eurovision songs, including “We Will Rave” by Kaleen, who represented Austria in Eurovision 2024, “Fuego” by Eleni Foureira, who represented Cyprus in Eurovision 2018 and finished in second place, and “Voices” by Tusse, Sweden’s representative in Eurovision 2021. The song is performed in Finnish and Swedish.

Nowadays, Sweden leads the betting odds with 36% chance to win Eurovision 2025.
