A gesture of support: Greece rebuffs allegations from European sources, including the Spanish national broadcaster, regarding vote-rigging that led to Israel’s win in the public vote at Eurovision.

European countries such as Spain and Belgium have questioned the credibility of the public voting results at Eurovision. In contrast, Greece, Israel’s neighbor across the sea, has expressed support for the voting system.

The Greek government spokesperson, Pavlos Marinakis, who also holds political authority over the Greek national broadcaster, ERT, dismissed the allegations from various European sources regarding supposed Israeli vote manipulation and stated:

“Eurovision is a music competition. Artists and songs participate. The public and the juries vote according to their own criteria. Indeed, the European public placed Israel in first place, in line with how each person chose to vote”.

He went on to reaffirm the Greek government’s support for Israel and reminded the public of the reasons behind the outbreak of war in Gaza.

“We will not criticize how people choose to vote. Our position on the Middle East is clear”.

Greek Minister of Health Criticizes the Juries

It is worth noting that the Greek Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, after the Eurovision 2025 final, posted on social media:

“Across Europe, the public chose Israel as their top preference, while the juries—who always lean left, everywhere and here as well—ranked it very low (we ranked it unacceptably low). There is a complete disconnect between the public and the juries. Congratulations to those who were not influenced by leftist propaganda and supported the great Western democracy of the Middle East during these difficult times and in this contest”.

Although the government spokesperson did not directly contradict Georgiadis, he said:

“The juries awarded points according to their own criteria. This is not a contest in which countries are judged based on political or geopolitical actions”.

Greece Commits to the True Values of Eurovision

This year, Greece emerges as a beacon of light. The Greek representative, Klavdia, smiled at everyone and did not express opposition to any person or country. The Greek delegation as a whole was exceptionally friendly. Evidently, warmth and kindness pay off, as Klavdia and Greece achieved the country’s best result since 2009, matching the sixth-place finish from Eurovision 2013, and Klavdia received enthusiastic applause from audiences across Europe.

Unlike other European countries, Greece unites by music, and not divides through it!

Greece at Eurovision 2025

“Asteromáta” (translated as: “Eyes of Stars”) is the song performed by Klavdia, who represented Greece in the grand final of Eurovision 2025. Greece finished sixth in the grand final with 231 points.

Klavdia – Who Are You?

Klavdia Papadopoulou, a Greek singer who rose to fame after participating in the Greek version of The Voice in 2018, is one of tonight’s most compelling contenders. Her mentor during the competition was none other than Eurovision winner Helena Paparizou, who guided her all the way to the finals.

For “Ethnikos Telikos 2025”, Klavdia collaborated with Arcade, a team of renowned music creators and producers who also wrote her entry “Asteromata“. The song blends modern elements with traditional Greek music, creating an emotional and captivating piece. With its melancholic tone, “Asteromata” draws inspiration from Klavdia’s family’s survival story during the Pontic Greek genocide – a deeply personal narrative that adds significant weight to her performance.
