Klavdia, Greece’s representative at Eurovision 2025, shares in an interview her experiences from Basel and the big surprise in the grand final – 12 points from Israel. Why was she surprised? And who made her doubt the score from Israel?
Klavdia, Greece’s representative for Eurovision 2025, shared today (Tuesday) in an interview about her experiences during the contest. Among other things, the Greek artist described her emotions during the second semi-final evening, up until she was announced last as a qualifier for the grand final. She also shared her thoughts on the unexpected 12 points from Israel and revealed the figure who made her question that score.
Klavdia is shocked: “I was surprised when I saw we got 12 points from Israel”.
In an interview with the Greek show “Τσάι με ΛεμόΝ1″, Klavdia revealed that when asked about the tense moments during the final — which she concluded in a respectable sixth place, contrary to betting agencies that had placed Greece much lower throughout the contest season — she arrived with modest expectations:
“We wanted to be in the top ten, but I didn’t have the pressure of ‘we must get 12 points’. The voting ends, the winner is announced, we look at the scoreboard and see that we finished sixth. Remember, in Greece they didn’t even think we could qualify for the final. I had great faith in the televoting, I believed the audience would support us, but I expected a slightly better score from the juries. The song was a jury-type song. Justice was done with the sixth place — with a traditional song, with Greek elements — against what we’re used to thinking in Greece”.
When asked about politics in the contest, she did not hesitate to address it, noting that politics is always present. However, she emphasized that focus should remain on music and that music must be the core of the event. Klavdia was surprised from the results, but one thing especially caught her off guard — the 12 points from Israel.
Who made her doubt Israel’s score? None other than Marina Satti, Greece’s Eurovision 2024 representative, known for her hostility towards Israel. Satti famously feigned sleep while Eden Golan answered reporters’ questions following the results of the second semi-final in Malmö — an act sharply condemned by the Greek government — and repeated such conduct in her performances and other events she was supposed to attend. In contrast, Klavdia decided to ignore politics in the competition as much as possible and concluded:
“I was truly surprised when I saw we got the 12 points from Israel, especially after the incident involving Marina Satti and last year’s Israeli representative. But I chose to maintain a non-political stance in Eurovision because I believe the contest is exclusively about music. Honestly, in 2025, I can’t understand why wars still exist”.

Greece at Eurovision 2025
“Asteromáta” (in English: “Eyes of Stars”) is the song performed by Klavdia, who represented Greece in the grand final of Eurovision 2025. Greece qualified for the grand final after placing fourth in the second semi-final with 112 points. In the grand final, Greece finished in sixth place with 231 points, with both the juries and the public awarding her eighth place.
This sixth-place finish is considered Greece’s best result since 2013, when the country also ranked sixth.
Eurovision 2026: This will be Greece’s 46th participation in Eurovision. Greece joined the competition in 1974 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2005 when singer Helena Paparizou won first place with the song “My Number One”.
