Two former Polish Eurovision representatives hinted that they might return to “Poland Decides”, through which Poland’s entry for Eurovision 2026, to be held in Vienna, Austria, will be chosen. Who are the two former representatives?
Two artists have revealed that they are interested in representing Poland at Eurovision 2026! It seems that part of the desire to represent Poland in the coveted contest comes following the success of the beloved Polish singer – Justyna Steczkowska, who represented Poland at Eurovision 2025 with the song “Gaja”. Last year, she returned to Eurovision 30 years after she represented Poland at Eurovision 1995 in Dublin with the song “Sama”. Will Poland once again send a former representative to the Eurovision stage this year?
Magdalena Tul – Poland 2011:
In 2011, the beloved Polish singer Magdalena Tul won the Polish national selection for Eurovision with over 40% of the votes with her song “Jestem” (in English: “I Am”). Magdalena represented Poland that year, but unfortunately finished in 19th and last place in the first semi-final with only 18 points. Now she is ready to come back for another round at Eurovision and improve her previous result! Tul revealed that during the Polish submission window, she sent the song “I’ll Be Around”, with which she wishes to represent Poland at the contest to be held in Vienna, Austria.
Tul published a post on social media in which she shared her excitement about a possible Eurovision return:
“The song ‘I’ll Be Around’ is the song I submitted to the Polish national selection. Fifteen years ago, I was given the privilege to represent Poland at Eurovision 2011 with the song ‘Jestem’. As you know, I felt dissatisfied with my participation in Eurovision at that time. My dream is to represent Poland at Eurovision once again! Will I ever have the chance to represent Poland again? It’s one of those things that seem impossible and unattainable, but in 2011, I thought so too, and in the end, I did represent Poland! Right now my song is in the running to represent Poland at Eurovision 2026; now everything depends on you!”
Michał Szpak – Poland 2016:
The Polish media organized a poll where Polish citizens voted for their ideal Polish representative for Eurovision 2026. The results have recently been revealed, showing that Michał Szpak won the poll. Szpak represented Poland in 2016 with his song “Color of Your Life” and gave Poland a respectable eighth place. He finished 25th in the jury vote with only 7 points, however, he was awarded third place by the public vote with 222 points! Since Szpak’s eighth place in 2016, no Polish representative has earned a better result in Eurovision.
Michał Szpak expressed on social media his vision regarding a Eurovision comeback:
I’m in contact with the producers of Loreen’s song “Tattoo”, and they are eager for my return.
He added:
Although Eurovision is not currently my top priority, I’m not firmly saying no. My experience in 2016 was exceptional.
The Polish national selection for Eurovision 2026 will reveal its competing entries on January 14th, with the Polish representative to be chosen a month later on February 14th. The competition will select Poland’s entry for Eurovision 2026, which will take place in Vienna, Austria. Will one of them go to Eurovision 2026? Only time will tell…
Poland in Eurovision 2025
“GAJA” was the name of the song performed by Justyna Steczkowska at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. Poland finished seventh in the first semifinal with 85 points, qualified for the Grand Final, and ultimately achieved 14th place with 156 points.
Eurovision 2026: This will be Poland’s 28th participation in the Eurovision Song Contest. Poland joined the competition in 1994 and achieved its best result that same year when singer Edyta Górniak reached second place with the song “To nie ja!”.
