The Euromix team rates the finalists of Supernova 2026. Discover who we believe should represent Latvia at Eurovision in Vienna.

The Latvian national selection, “Supernova 2026”, will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 8:10 pm CET. It features ten songs – five qualifiers from each semi-final. The winner of the local competition will represent the nation at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, Austria. The champion will be determined by a combination of public voting (50%) and jury voting (50%). Just before the main event, the Euromix team gathered, listened to the participating entries, and selected their favorites from the Latvian selection.

The Team’s Verdict: Who Should Win Supernova?

Avi Zeikner: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

It was really hard for me to rank the songs in this selection. The truth? Most of the songs are simply unpleasant to listen to. The only song I managed to truly listen to without effort and even enjoy a little Is “Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal”. It is a pleasant pop song, with an interesting and intriguing arrangement.

Adiel Steinmetz: First Place – Kautkaili – Te Un Tagad

The Latvian selection this year is very weak. Out of all the competing songs, two stood out to me specifically: “Ēnā” and “Te Un Tagad”. After much deliberation, I chose Kautkaili as my winner. It is ostensibly not the most sweeping song, but the stage performance completely captivated me. One of the more genius stagings I have seen. I really hope Latvia doesn’t go for the obvious and choose Emilija, who currently seems to be the main candidate for victory. In any case, in my opinion, the Latvian song will need to undergo some sort of revamp to succeed in the contest. Good luck Latvia, you will need it!

Ofek Jerassi: First Place – Atvara – Ena

The Latvian selection, which in the past was a classic selection to skip, is truly improving from year to year. And this year too, a selection that sounded weak on first listen turns out to be one of the most refreshing of the season. Several strong songs remained in the semis, but luckily my absolute favorite, Atvara, advanced to the final. She brings a poignant and pleasant ballad, and she has a cute concept for the performance. With good direction, I totally see this in the final. Let’s hope they don’t go for the obvious choice, Emilija, and good luck.

Oscar Diefenthal: First Place – Tikasha Sakama – #010126 Coda

In my eyes, the winner of the Latvian selection is Tikasha Sakama. A new singer in Latvia who manages to truly surprise, with an unconventional song title but a creation that immediately captivates. It is an original, calm, and precise song, with cool sounds that stay in your head and make you want to hear it on repeat. A song that deserves to win the selection and present something completely different, something that hasn’t been seen yet on the Eurovision stage.

Maor Heumann: First Place – Emilija – All We Ever Had

One of those times it’s best to go with the familiar and safe—Emilija is a well-known and beloved singer in Latvia, who reached second place last year with the same number of points as the winner. She tries again with a quiet, beautiful, and moving song, with a slightly bewitched and mysterious atmosphere; she sings beautifully and it is simple and pleasant. Nothing more is needed.

Shahar (Chacha) Assido: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

In my first place is Robert Ox, who happened to be part of the band Citi Zēni back in Eurovision 2022, and also, of course, visited a pre-Eurovision party. Aside from the story and personal acquaintance, Robert’s song is truly wonderful, sweeping, and more interesting than the other competing songs; it has a good and special rhythm and for me, it even sat on a slightly Egyptian-desert atmosphere and in my opinion, it is really exceptional!

Maayan Eli: Tikasha Sakama – #010126 Coda

Latvia’s selection is full of dull songs this year, unlike last year. I didn’t truly love #010126 Coda by Sakama Tikasha, but it was reasonable in contrast to most of the desolation and boredom of this selection. A bit of trolling won’t hurt Latvia so that we can all enjoy the event. There is something nice about the song; it is calm, pleasant, and dramatic at times. The enjoyable moment in it is towards the end of the song when the tempo rises slightly and there are backing vocals. Tikasha’s voice is pleasant and flowing and has an interesting tone that creates an indifferent feeling that is fun to listen to.

Adi Gazal: First Place – Atvara – Ena

A special, ethnic song, with a good live performance that really pulls you into the singer’s world and intrigues you to know what will happen next. Among Latvia’s not-so-high-quality selection this year, in my opinion, this is probably one of the only songs, if not the only one, that can safely get them into the final this year.

Aviad Berger: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

Despite the success of the last two years, Latvia proves that it must change something if it aims for the high places. This selection is boring in my eyes, lacks imagination, and generally, most songs here will finish at the bottom of the scoreboard. Still, there were two or three songs I managed to connect with, led by Robert Ox’s song. This is the most special and interesting song in this selection, and in my opinion, it has the potential to succeed not badly with the audience. It’s hard for me to see this song being chosen, but go figure, there are always surprises. I wish Latvia great luck, you will need it in the semi-final.

Talya Raviv: First Place – Atvara – Ena

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find much interest in the Latvian Eurovision selection, and I became more and more bored from song to song. The structure of the songs is repetitive and does not develop, which made it difficult for me to connect to them. The only song that managed to catch me a little was Atvara’s song, but I chose it in relation to the other participating songs in the selection, and compared to the other songs chosen to perform in Vienna so far, Latvia will find itself far from the Eurovision 2026 final.

Neta Geffen: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

After Latvia surprised me huge last year with Tautumeitas, the level of songs in the selection this year left me quite indifferent to this country. Nevertheless, I chose Robert Ox because it is the only song in the selection that felt different from the other songs with a combination of electronic music and an exotic atmosphere. It is not a safe or mainstream choice, but precisely the courage to go for something different makes the song stand out in my eyes. If Latvia wants to see a third consecutive final, this is exactly the song that can do it.

Rachel Geron: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

In such a sleepy selection, this song stands out for me in the best way possible. The performance is excellent, the choreography is fun, a song that is simply fun to listen to. It leaves dust to all the competitors facing it and is, in my opinion, undoubtedly the best choice Latvia can make this year.

Talor Fishler: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

The Latvian selection this year felt relatively dormant, with a dominance of jury songs and quiet ballads. Within this atmosphere, the song “Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal” stood out above everyone, combining elements from Indian culture with bouncing electronic production. Robert Ox manages to create a real international party here. One of the things I always look for in a Eurovision song is development and dynamics, and in this song, I found it in the strongest way. I love the happy energy it brings with it, and I really hope to see it rocking the arena in Vienna this coming May.

Tal Dahan: First Place – Kautkaili – Te Un Tagad

The Latvian Eurovision selection is particularly weak this year, and it is very hard to find songs in it that one can enjoy from beginning to end. The song I chose for first place is by Kautkaili, not necessarily because of the song itself but because of the mesmerizing performance that truly hasn’t been seen like it on the Eurovision stage! The singer dances during the performance on a pile of books while looking smaller than the other band members, and later on, the visual story looks interesting and very eye-catching. Good luck to Latvia!

Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Robert Ox – Ravin’ At the Taj Mahal

Let’s admit the truth the Latvian selection this year presented us with a difficult challenge. Out of a list where most felt a bit sleepy or unripe to me, Robert Ox is the point of light (or madness) we needed. My choice for “Ravin’ at the Taj Mahal” is a choice for energy and difference. Compared to the other songs that struggle to leave a mark, Robert brings a cool, different, and unexpected entry. It might not be a classic Eurovision song, but in the current selection, it stands out above everyone thanks to its unique vibe. If Latvia wants to avoid being the ‘bathroom break’ of the semi-final, it must send something that will wake up the viewers and Robert is the only one on the list capable of doing that.

Latvia at Eurovision 2025

Bur Man Laimi” (in English: “Song for Happiness”) is the name of the song performed by Tautumeitas, representing Latvia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The song is performed in Latvian – the first song in Latvian sent since 2004!

It placed second in the second semi-final with 130 points, reached the grand final, and finished thirteenth with 158 points – Latvia’s second consecutive qualification and highest achievement since Eurovision 2015.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Latvia’s 26th participation. Latvia debuted the contest in 2000 and achieved its best result in 2002, when Marie N won with the song “I Wanna”.
