Hours after the official announcement by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Bulgarian national broadcaster BNT that the city of Burgas will host  Eurovision 2027, sad news arrives for Israeli viewers: the Israeli hair care products company Moroccanoil, which served as the official sponsor of the shows, will not continue its sponsorship for the 2027 contest, ending six consecutive years of involvement.

Speculation began this morning (Thursday) alongside the official reveal of the host city. Many viewers noticed that, unlike in previous years, the Israeli company’s logo was absent from the graphic designs and videos accompanying the announcement. As a result, many wondered whether the company had concluded its role, and further, whether this was by choice or driven by a decision from the European Broadcasting Union to terminate the association between the two parties.

Later, The New York Times journalist Alex Marshall officially reported that the decision was made by Moroccanoil rather than the European Broadcasting Union. The EBU officially confirmed the report, stating: “We can confirm that, after six successful years, Moroccanoil has chosen not to renew its sponsorship of the Eurovision Song Contest. We wish Moroccanoil every success for the future.”

Burgas Wins the Host City Bid

Burgas won the host city bidding process for next year’s contest, defeating a competing bid from the capital, Sofia. This will mark the first time Bulgaria hosts the Eurovision Song Contest, following the historic victory of singer DARA at Eurovision 2026, which took place in Vienna, Austria last May.

For Burgas, this will be the first time hosting a Eurovision event, following Sofia’s hosting of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. The chosen host venue, Arena Burgas, can accommodate approximately 15,000 spectators during music events. Unlike last year, the host city is not the capital of the winning country, mirroring the trend seen in the contests held between 2019 and 2025.

Alongside the unveiling of the host city, the official contest dates were also released:

• Semi-Final 1: Tuesday, May 11th.

• Semi-Final 2: Thursday, May 13th.

• Grand Final: Saturday, May 15th.

Eurovision 2027: The 71st Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria, following the country’s first historic win with the song “Bangaranga” performed by DARA. This will be the first time the contest is hosted in Bulgaria.
