SVT will open the song submission window for Melodifestivalen 2025 on August 23, through which the representative and song for Eurovision 2025, to be held in Switzerland, will be chosen.

The process of selecting the Swedish song for Eurovision 2025 will begin on August 23 (this coming Friday), when the Swedish national broadcaster, SVT, opens the song submission window for the Swedish Eurovision pre-selection, Melodifestivalen 2025.

This year as well, Melodifestivalen will serve as the Swedish Eurovision pre-selection. This is the 62nd year that the Swedish song will be chosen through this platform, through which all of Sweden’s representatives for Eurovision have been selected, except for its first participation in Eurovision 1958, where singer Alice Babs was directly chosen, and except for Sweden’s absences from the competition in the years 1964, 1970, and 1976.

The song submission window is expected to open on August 23 at 9:00 CET and will remain open for three weeks. The song submission period will end on September 13 at 11:59 CET. Song submissions for Melodifestivalen 2025 will be done exclusively through the website bidrag.melodifestivalen.se. Alongside the songs, SVT is also looking for new dancers for the Eurovision pre-selection and will hold auditions on September 1.

The Swedish Eurovision pre-selection has been very successful since the early 2000s, proving itself on the scoreboard over the years. Additionally, over 2,500 songs are submitted to the pre-selection each year, an impressive figure by all accounts. In 2024, 2,624 songs were submitted, in 2023, 2,824 were submitted, and in 2022, 2,530 were submitted.

The list of participants in the Melodifestivalen is expected to be revealed, as every year, during the month of November. Who would you like to see representing Sweden at Eurovision? Who is expected to participate once again in the Swedish pre-selection? We will find out soon.
