Familiar Faces and New Contenders

We have already reported on several well-known singers and artists who have come to the auditions with the goal of reaching Switzerland, and now we can report on several additional artists who have joined the competition!

Hamsa Band

The Israeli girl group Hamsa, active from 2000 to 2004, has already tried to reach Eurovision when they participated in the Israeli national final in 2001 with the song “Darbuka”, reaching third place. The band has one album, from which the hit “Ata Hayav Lamut Alay” was released. In 2004, the band disbanded, as mentioned, after only one album. In 2020, the band reunited (except for Carmi Shimron) and released a single called “Itani Hayati”. Now the band is reuniting once again and will try to accomplish what they couldn’t in 2001.

Pnina Rosenblom

a multifaceted personality, also joins the competition. Rosenblom previously attempted to reach Eurovision, participating in the 1983 national final with the song “Tamid Isha”, where she finished 13th and last. Since then, she has accomplished many things, including serving as a member of the Knesset for the Likud party for several months. In the past year, Rosenblom has released several songs following the war, which became hits, such as “Eyfo Haita BaShviee Laasiri” and “Iran Don’t Shoot“. Now, Pnina is expected to participate and take part in the upcoming season, although it’s still unclear what her role will be – whether as a guest singer, guest judge, or perhaps she’ll try her luck in “HaKochav HaBa L’Eurovision” herself, and maybe represent Israel on the world’s biggest stage!

Ron Buhnik

Ron Buhnik, who previously participated in the third season of the show in 2016, is returning. Since then, he has broken into public awareness, and in 2018 participated in Gil Vein‘s project, singing the song “Tsvaim”. He has since released several songs and is now returning to the show where he started, trying his luck to reach Eurovision.

Anna Timofei

Anna became famous on the reality show “X Factor” (2015) in its second season, where she reached third place in the grand finale. Since then, Timofei tried to represent Moldova in 2018 with the song “Endlessly”. Now, Timofei is trying her luck to represent Israel.

Valerie Hamaty

Hamaty, who already competed in “HaKochav HaBa” in 2021, finishing in second place, is also returning. Since then, she has completed her studies at the “Rimon” music school and has also participated in the reality show “Dancing with the Stars”. Now she is returning to the show where it all began, but will she make it to Eurovision in Switzerland? Well, the answer is that Hamaty is probably not a candidate to represent Israel at Eurovision, but she will definitely take some part in the upcoming season.

Israel in Eurovision 2024

“Hurricane” is the name of the song performed by singer Eden Golan, who was chosen to represent Israel after winning the tenth season of “HaKokhav Haba“. Israel advanced to the final after winning the second semi-final with 194 points, and in the grand final reached fifth place with 375 points. In the public vote, Israel came in second place, just 14 points behind the first place.

This is the second consecutive time that Israel has reached the top five, an achievement it had not attained since its streak of successes in 1998-1999.

Eurovision 2024: This was Israel’s 46th participation in Eurovision. Israel joined the competition in 1973 and has won it four times over the years. Israel’s last victory was at Eurovision 2018 with the song “Toy” performed by singer Netta Barzilai.
