Lithuania’s Eurovision preselection, Eurovizija.LT, is set to begin in January 2025, featuring 45 competing songs. The grand finale will take place on February 15, revealing the nation’s representative for Eurovision 2025.
The Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision, “Eurovizija.LT”, kicks off in January 2025 with 45 songs competing for the chance to perform on Europe’s biggest stage in Basel, Switzerland. The finale is scheduled for February 15 at Žalgirio Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania’s largest indoor venue. The event will be broadcast live on the national broadcaster and the LRT website. The semi-finals commence on January 11 at 20:00 CET and will span five rounds, each featuring nine contestants. The top two performers from each semi-final, determined by combined jury and audience votes, will advance to the grand finale.
When Lithuania confirmed its Eurovision 2025 participation in August, national broadcaster LRT opened song submissions for “Eurovizija.LT”, initially setting a November 11 deadline. However, the deadline was extended to November 25 due to overwhelming interest.
According to Audrius Giržadas, head of LRT’s television programming, a record 81 applications were submitted—a significant increase from previous years:
“We released the call for submissions earlier in August to give creators more time to prepare their entries. It’s encouraging to see this decision appreciated.”
The semi-finals will feature rotating panels of judges whose identities remain undisclosed. To avoid influencing audience votes, judges’ scores will only be revealed at the end of each broadcast. During the finale, the top three entries, selected through combined jury and audience votes, will be performed again, with the audience solely deciding the ultimate winner.
A third-party organization will oversee voting to ensure transparency, and part of the audience voting revenue will fund preparations for Lithuania’s Eurovision representative.

Lithuania’s Eurovision Journey
Lithuania joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 but faced a challenging debut, finishing last with zero points. The country has yet to secure its first victory, unlike its Baltic neighbors Estonia and Latvia, who won in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Lithuania’s best result remains sixth place in Eurovision 2006, when LT United represented the country with “We Are The Winners“. In recent years, Lithuania has maintained a qualification streak, reaching four consecutive finals since Eurovision 2021.
