Moldova’s national broadcaster TRM will unveil the contestants for “Etapa Națională 2025” on January 13th. Ten artists will compete to represent Moldova at Eurovision 2025 in Basel. 

The Moldovan national broadcaster, TRM, will reveal the contestants for the local Eurovision national selection “Etapa Națională 2025” on Monday, January 13th, at 3:00 PM (CET). Besides this information, it appears that the broadcaster is facing a significant challenge: TRM has issued an official statement to production companies, seeking a company that can produce the national selection. As a reminder, TRM has a very limited budget for everything related to Eurovision.




Selection Process

After songs were submitted to the Moldovan national broadcaster, a professional committee convened to choose the songs submitted for the national selection. The singers found suitable were invited to live auditions, which will take place on January 18th. Following the auditions, ten artists will be chosen to compete in the final of the national selection.

Final Event Details

The final of “Etapa Națională 2025” will be held on February 22nd, 2025, and will be broadcast on TRM and YouTube. The winner of the national selection will be chosen through a combination of public voting (50%) and jury voting (50%) and will represent Moldova at Eurovision 2025 in Basel. It’s worth noting that in case of a tie, the competition organizers will have the right to decide and determine the winner.




Moldova in Eurovision 2024

Natalia Barbu represented Moldova in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 with the song “In the Middle”, after winning first place in the local national final. The song reached 13th place in the first semi-final, with only 20 points, and did not qualify for the grand final. This is Moldova’s lowest result in Eurovision since 2016, when Moldova reached 17th place in the semi-final.

Eurovision 2025: This will be Moldova’s 20th participation in Eurovision. Moldova joined the competition in 2005 and achieved its best result in Eurovision 2017 when SunStroke Project finished in third place with the song “Hey Mamma”.
