Members of the Euromix editorial team convened to vote for the competing songs in Sanremo Festival 2025. Who should represent Italy at Eurovision according to the editorial team?
The Italian festival, Festival di Sanremo, which is also used as a national selection, is set to take place tonight at 20:40, featuring 33 contestants. The winner of this local competition will represent Italy at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. In anticipation of this event, Euromix editorial team members gathered to listen to the participating songs and select their favorites from the Italian national selection.
Editorial Picks: Who Should Represent Italy?
Avi Zaikaner: First Place – Clara – “Fabbre”
Oh Clara, Clara… What have you done to me… What an amazing voice you have! Your vocal precision in the live performance – excellent! The combination of power and delicacy in your voice – amazing! The rhythm, the unique melody, the combination of dramatic verses and rhythmic chorus – perfect! And your appearance? Simply mesmerizing! You’re my winner!
Ofek Jerassi: First Place – The Kolors – “Tu Con Chi Fai L’amore”
After an excellent San Remo festival year in 2024, where I thought there was a turning point and it started to become more modern and of higher quality, we returned to 2025 where the songs nominated for winning are sleepy male ballads full of auto-tune and raspy voices that are supposed to (somehow) move someone. The fans’ infatuation with this style disgusts me in a way, and it seems that no matter what song Italy sends, no matter how sleepy with poor vocal performance, it will be praised and reach the top 10. A song I want to mention positively in this sleep festival is The Kolors‘ song, which is fun, catchy, danceable, and most importantly doesn’t try to forcefully pluck my heartstrings, something Italian songs specialize in and I’m honestly a bit tired of.
Ronnie Glik: First Place – Fedez – “Battito”
I would have to write a whole article here about why Fedez is my winner, but I’ll spare you that and put it here – in one short and to-the-point sentence: I simply love him and it’s the best song in the world, therefore he’s my winner.
Aviad Berger: First Place – Elodie – “Dimenticarsi alle 7″
I chose Elodie’s song as my winner this year for San Remo, in my opinion it’s the best song in the festival and can bring Italy very high in Eurovision. Besides that, I’d also be happy if Clara wins, though I don’t think either of them will win, which is a shame.
Guy Solo: First Place – Rose Villain – “Fuorilegge”
There’s no comparison between the iconic San Remo of 2024 and this year’s San Remo with the changes Carlo Conti introduced. Nevertheless, I love almost all the songs and choosing the top ten best songs from them and then the winner was an almost impossible task for me. In my opinion, none of the competing songs this year will manage to bring Italy to a high place in the final or even cross the middle of the table. The only one I can see performing well on stage in Basel is Rose Villain with the song “Fuorilegge” (in English: “Outlaw”). The song describes a state of longing and pain after a breakup, where the narrator feels abandoned and tries to cope with her feelings at night, when the world is asleep. She experiences difficulty sleeping and struggles with thoughts of her lover, comparing herself to Bonnie and Clyde characters, as if she’s a criminal because of her thoughts about him. The song conveys a feeling of hope and despair simultaneously along with nostalgia for the times when they were together. Good luck to Italy this year and this is an excellent opportunity to use the stage and ask Amadeus to urgently return to manage the San Remo Festival 2026.
Noy Yehoyada: First Place – Clara – “Febbre”
I chose Clara’s “Febbre” as my winner for the San Remo Festival 2025, because it’s a song that truly contains everything. It manages to combine a catchy rhythm with touching lyrics, but beyond that – it’s always interesting, surprising, and unpredictable. With changing rhythms and dynamics that develop throughout, there’s not a boring moment in it. Clara’s live performance was powerful, full of passion and captivating, which only added to the song’s power. For me, it’s not just a good song – it’s a song that makes you feel, dance, and get excited simultaneously.
Tal Dahan: First Place – Serena Brancale – “Amena e core”
While San Remo is not my favorite Eurovision pre-selection, there are a few songs this year that I managed to connect with. Among all the pre-selection songs, the most original one where the singer also plays (a kind of electronic drum), sings amazingly, brings personal charm and crazy energy on stage, wrote and composed the song, and preserves her culture the most among the other singers – is Serena Brancale with the song “Amena e core”. It’s for authentic and fun songs like these that I’m a Eurovision fan, and I really hope Italy will choose correctly with a rhythmic and original song rather than a mediocre male ballad. I’ll also positively mention Rose Villain and Clara who didn’t disappoint and brought amazing songs to the competition as well.
