Måns Zelmerlöw breaks his silence in a new book, addressing attacks, his divorce from Ciara Janson and the allegations surrounding their split.
Almost two years have passed since Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw competed in Sweden’s national selection, and Sweden is already preparing for Eurovision 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria. Now, at precisely this point, the singer has decided to break his silence and speak about his emotional breakdown following the national selection and his difficult divorce from his wife, during which he was accused of hard-drug use and violence.
After two years in which he has made very few public appearances in Sweden, Eurovision winner Måns Zelmerlöw has released his new book, “När allt faller” (English: “When Everything Falls”). According to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter, the book contains a strong attack on his former wife, British actress Ciara Janson, who previously made serious allegations against him.
Måns did not allow his ex-wife to read the book before its publication. He says: “We tried to reach a dialogue, but we have not managed to do so yet.” Zelmerlöw is currently facing trial in Sweden on three counts of taking property through deception, apparently relating to child-support payments he received for his children, who actually live with their mother in England.
In an interview with Swedish media, Måns speaks about the loneliness he has experienced and his need to publish a book that would give him an opportunity to present his side of the story. However, it is difficult not to wonder: if Måns is so confident that he is in the right, why is it so important for him to gain approval from the general public?
Måns’ former wife published a pointed post on her Instagram account containing serious allegations about the way he allegedly treated her and her children. Janson’s accusations against Måns include drug addiction, emotional and physical abuse, and “endless” infidelity. According to Janson, she filed for divorce in the United Kingdom in an attempt to protect both his privacy and her own, but maintaining that privacy is no longer possible. She claims that she remained silent and protected Måns for far too long.
Janson continued by sharing: “I encourage anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation to reach out and get help and support, and to find the strength to take control of their life. Everyone deserves freedom and happiness.”
She ended her strongly worded post with what could be interpreted as both a wish for Måns’ success and a pointed remark: “I wish Måns success in whatever he tries, and I hope he gets the help he so desperately needs. As this current chapter closes, I wish him nothing but a path toward a better future.” Janson’s post was later deleted, but the public does not forget, and the allegations caused serious damage to Zelmerlöw’s reputation and image.
Sweden at Eurovision 2026
“My System” is the song that was performed by the singer Felicia, which represented Sweden in the Eurovision Grand Final on May 16th, in Vienna, Austria, and came in 20th place. The song was written by Felicia Eriksson herself, together with Audun Agnar, Emily Harbakk, Julie Bergan and Theresa Rex. This is the first Eurovision entry by all songwriters. The song was performed entirely in English.
Eurovision 2026: This was Sweden’s 65th appearance in the competition. Sweden joined Eurovision in 1958 and has won the contest seven times over the years. The country’s most recent victory came in 2023, when Loreen won with the song “Tattoo”.
