The Dutch national broadcaster has announced Chantal Janzen to present the Netherlands’ jury points at Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

As every year, one of the most thrilling and memorable moments of Eurovision is the voting segment. This year, Chantal Janzen, who hosted Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam and was also selected to host the canceled 2020 edition, will serve as the official spokesperson for the Netherlands at Eurovision 2025. She will announce the Dutch professional jury’s points live from Basel. The highlight: once again on stage, but this time in a different role.

Chantal Janzen is no stranger to the Eurovision stage. In 2021, when the contest was held in Rotterdam, she co-hosted the voting announcement segment alongside Jan Smit. Now, four years after that defining moment, she returns to a key role-this time from the other side of the screen, as the one announcing the Dutch jury’s live scores.

During the broadcast, viewers will hear Chantal’s familiar voice declaring, “Our twelve points go to…”, just before the highest score-12 points-is awarded to one of the competing countries. This moment, considered one of the most dramatic peaks of the evening, attracts enormous attention from fans and viewers every year.

The Pinnacle of Hosting – This Time from the Other Side

In a short interview ahead of the grand final, Chantal Janzen excitedly shared her thoughts on the opportunity to once again be part of the prestigious event:

“When the four of us hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021, the voting segment was one of the highlights I had the privilege to experience. It’s the moment when, ultimately, everything comes down to a single point, and that’s a particularly challenging part for the hosts. Beyond seeing it as a great honor to stand on the other side of the screen this year, I especially look forward to a wonderful performance by our Claude”.

Chantal’s words highlight how the voting segment is not only a significant moment for the audience, but also a real challenge for the hosts themselves. She notes that the voting segment was one of the high points of Eurovision for her and that it is “the moment when everything comes down to a single point”.

Beyond her role as spokesperson, Chantal emphasizes her anticipation for seeing this year’s Dutch representative, Claude, reach the grand final. The song, which brings a French touch with a modern twist, has received positive reactions in the country, and the Netherlands hopes to qualify for the final and compete for a respectable place at the top. According to the betting tables, the Dutch singer is in a close race with Israel’s representative, Yuval Raphael.

Netherlands at Eurovision 2025

“C’est La Vie” (in English: “That’s life”) is the name of the song to be performed by the singer Claude who will represent the Netherlands in the second part of the first semi-final of Eurovision 2025 to be held on May 13th in Basel, Switzerland.

The song was written by the singer himself along with Arno Krabman who is responsible for the song “De Diepte” (in English: “The Depth”) that represented the Netherlands in 2022 and reached 11th place in the grand final. In addition to these creators, the creators Joren van der Voort and Léon Palmen are involved in the writing and production of the song. Apart from Krabman, this is the first song by the other creators in the Eurovision competition. The song is performed in English and French. The song “C’est la vie” blends childhood memories with a burst of nostalgia and a deep reflection on the cyclicality and rotations of life.

Currently, the singer is ranked fifth in the betting tables, with a 5% chance of winning.

Who is Claude?

Claude Kiambe, 21 years old, was born in Congo and moved to the Netherlands with his family at the age of 13. The first Eurovision he watched was in 2014, when he and his family cheered for the winning singer Conchita Wurst from Austria. Since then, Claude has been an avid follower of the Eurovision contest. He began releasing music in 2022, with his debut single “Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot)” (in English: Ladada (My Last Word)). His song reached about 53 million views and won the 3FM award for “Best New Discovery.”

Claude released his debut album in 2024, in which he co-wrote and co-composed every song. Since then, he and his band have been performing extensively in the Netherlands and neighboring Belgium. His debut hit, for which he made English and French versions, achieved international success in about 15 countries worldwide, making Claude a globally recognized singer.

After the announcement of his selection, the Dutch singer said: “I feel extremely honoured that I will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest next year and I still can’t believe it. I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to present my song to Europe.”
