Malta in Eurovision 2025: Singer Miriana Conte took the stage for her second rehearsal with the song “Serving”. Stay updated with all the reports from Basel, Switzerland
Miriana Conte, Malta’s Eurovision 2025 representative, was the ninth act to rehearse today on the Eurovision 2025 stage with her song “Serving”. She will perform as song number 9 in the secound semi-final, scheduled for May 15th.
A glimpse into Malta’s rehearsal reveals a fresh and surprising arrangement of the song. Just before the chorus bursts with energy, Miriana slows the melody down—a dramatic move that highlights the higher notes blending perfectly with the background vocals. Colorful animations unfold across the LED screens behind the stage, while the lips-shaped prop and the disco ball within it integrate beautifully with Miriana’s charismatic stage presence.
More details about Malta’s performance
Miriana has undergone a significant transformation in her appearance between the national selection and her new performance. In the national final, she appeared on stage in a long dress, which quickly changed into a black lace bodysuit, with dramatic pink and black makeup, accompanied by dancers in matching suits. In contrast, in the new performance, she begins inside a giant structure of sparkling red lips holding a spinning disco ball, dressed in a striking yellow dress with a voluminous mint and black skirt and black sleeves. Later, she reveals a particularly glittery black-and-red bodysuit, with vivid red hair-a change that emphasizes her shift from a dangerous flower persona to the Queen of Hearts.
The stage itself has been impressively upgraded: at its center stands a massive prop-sparkling red lips holding a disco ball, about three meters high. Miriana starts her performance inside it, and the structure rotates at the beginning of the song. Later, she is lifted out of the ball and skirt, creating a dramatic moment of reveal and surprise. The lighting and design support this transition, all combining to create a powerful visual narrative.
Stage effects include LED screens displaying changing graphics-exploding flowers, dancing figures, lyrics from the song, and, at the end, the phrase DIVA NOT DOWN in giant letters. The dancers have also transitioned from the classic looks of the national selection to bold costumes featuring red nets, black lingerie, and red fur. Towards the finale, red exercise balls appear on stage, and the choreography takes on a bouncy, energetic twist. All of this is accompanied by pyrotechnics-smoke jets during the chorus and a powerful ending-highlighting Miriana’s bold and uncompromising style.
Malta in Eurovision 2025
“Serving” is the title of the song to be performed by Miriana Conte, who will represent Malta as song number 9 in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2025 on May 15th in Basel, Switzerland. The song was co-written by the singer alongside Benjamin Schmid, Matthew Mercieca, and Sarah Evelyn Fullerton. Schmid has previously written numerous entries for Malta’s national Eurovision selections and co-authored the winning song of Junior Eurovision 2015, “Not My Soul.” Mercieca contributed to Malta’s Eurovision entries in 2015 and 2018. This marks Schmid and Fullerton’s first Eurovision entry and Mercieca’s third. The song is performed in English.
The song advocates for freedom of expression and breaking societal constraints, emphasizing independence and female empowerment. It begins with an invitation to reveal an intimate, perhaps provocative, secret and transitions into describing a stifling environment that suppresses individuality. The chorus serves as a call to action and presence, expressing the protagonist’s ability to influence reality and encouraging others to shed inhibitions and follow her rhythm. The song concludes with a reinforcement of its message to live and express oneself freely.
Currently, Malta is ranked 11th on the betting odds ahead of Eurovision 2025.
