Azerbaijan’s head of delegation confirmed the country’s participation in Eurovision 2026 in Austria. The representative and song selection process is yet to be decided.
Azerbaijan’s head of delegation confirmed that Azerbaijan will participate in Eurovision 2026, which will take place in Austria. Azerbaijan is the 23rd country to express interest in participating in Eurovision 2026, following Albania, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the host country, Austria.
The head of delegation, Nurlana Jafarli, stated in an interview that the information claiming Azerbaijan will not participate in Eurovision is unfounded.
“Azerbaijan usually announced its official participation starting in August and chose its representative by the end of September. And this year the process is a bit late. Unfortunately, I cannot explain to you the reasons for this. Because we are involved in other processes. We still have some time for that. For official confirmation we must wait for the decision of the leadership of Public Television”.
She also noted that the selection process has not yet been determined:
“Because our participation has not been officially announced, we have not yet accepted applications. This process can be extended. The winner of “Voice Azerbaijan” will also be viewed as participating in Eurovision. There is a discussion of all of this. In the near future, the public will be informed of this”.
