Latvian singer Diona Liepiņa claims her producer leaked her “Supernova” song out of revenge, while committing emotional abuse. Fans support her and urge her to reveal his identity.

The Latvian singer Diona Liepiņa published a video on social media revealing that the song she specifically composed for Latvia’s Eurovision selection show Supernova was leaked online, leading to its immediate disqualification from the competition. “I woke up in the morning”, she recalled, “and a student of mine wrote to me that he had found the song on YouTube”.

Serious Allegations Against the Producer: Revenge and Emotional Manipulation

In her video, Liepiņa claimed that it was her own producer who leaked the track as an act of revenge after she refused to comply with his demands and instructions. According to her, she endured “emotional violence, extortion, and manipulation attempts”.

Liepiņa clarified that she does not intend to reveal the producer’s identity for now, but she stressed that his brother is a very well-known musician in Latvia.

Disqualification: Rules, Regulations and the Emotional Price

Eurovision rules stipulate that songs publicly released before September 1st are not eligible to compete. Due to the leak, her entry was officially disqualified from Supernova 2026, Latvia’s national selection set to take place on February 14th, 2026, consisting of two semi-finals and a final. “I invested months of work, time, and money”, Liepiņa shared tearfully, “and now everything has gone to waste”.

Many viewers expressed strong support in the comments, encouraging her to reveal the producer’s identity in order to protect other artists from similar harm. As of now, Liepiņa has not publicly responded to these calls.

A Message of Strength and Resilience

“Maybe this is a tough and disgusting experience, but it’s also an opportunity to learn and grow”, Liepiņa concluded in her message. “It can happen to anyone. None of us are fully protectedwe must always be careful and never trust blindly. Even when someone tries to stop us, we can rise above it and grow. I am already planning my next musical move”.

Latvia at Eurovision 2025

Bur Man Laimi” (in English: “Song for Happiness”) is the name of the song performed by Tautumeitas, representing Latvia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. The song is performed in Latvian – the first song in Latvian sent since 2004!

It placed second in the second semi-final with 130 points, reached the grand final, and finished thirteenth with 158 points – Latvia’s second consecutive qualification and highest achievement since Eurovision 2015.

Eurovision 2026: This will be Latvia’s 26th participation. Latvia debuted in 2000 and achieved its best result in 2002, when Marie N won with “I Wanna”.
