Cyprus has reached the final stage of Eurovision 2026 selection. Two artists remain – Josephine and Giorgos Perrisone offering modern pop, the other a classical style. Discover the finalists.

Cyprus has already confirmed its participation in Eurovision 2026 and announced that its representative would be chosen by a professional committee. Last week, the Cypriot national broadcaster CyBC unveiled the names of eight possible candidates. Shortly afterward, the Greek website Eurovisionfun reported that only two singers remained on the shortlist.

Journalist Aris Kavatzidis, speaking on the Greek morning show “Bungiorno”, has now disclosed their identities. So, who are the two artists that might represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, Austria?

The Final Two Candidates Revealed

According to Kavatzidis, the two finalists vying to represent Cyprus at Eurovision are Josephine and Giorgos Perris—confirming an earlier report by Eurovisionfun that only two artists remain in contention.
The proposals submitted by record labels reportedly do not include finalized songs but rather detailed production concepts—teams of composers, directors, and choreographers who would craft the performance if the artist is selected.

A special independent committee, separate from the national broadcaster, will make the final decision on which artist and project will represent Cyprus in the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

This week, rumors began circulating that Josephine had already been chosen as Cyprus’s representative. Greek television host Giorgos Liagas fueled the speculation by claiming on his show that there is “a 99% chance the choice has already been made”, noting her name has frequently surfaced in recent years in connection with both Greece’s and Cyprus’s Eurovision entries.

However, CyBC quickly dismissed the rumors. In an official statement, the national broadcaster clarified that the selection process has not yet concluded, the committee has not reached a final decision, and fans should remain patient as official announcements approach.

Giorgos Perris – The Classical Voice

Greek-French singer Giorgos Perris was born on August 24, 1983, in Athens. Known for his distinctive voice and multilingual performances in Greek, French, English, and Spanish, Perris deftly merges pop and orchestral influences. He has performed at prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center in New York and the Herod Atticus Odeon in Athens.

Perris has released albums in multiple languages, produced televised specials for PBS in the United States, and collaborated with world-renowned artists including Lara Fabian, Mario Frangoulis, and Justin Hayward.

Josephine – The Pop Contender

Greek singer Josephine, whose full name is Jessica Josephine Wendel, was born on August 22, 1990, in Athens. Eurovision fans first discovered her in 2014, when she competed alongside DJ Mark Angelo in the Greek national final Greece Eurosong 2014” with the song “Dancing Night.” Despite finishing last among the four songs, the setback only fueled her determination.

In 2020, she competed in and won the fourth season of the TV show “Just the 2 of Us” along with actor and entrepreneur Nasos Papargyropoulos.

Which of the two will ultimately fly the Cypriot flag in Vienna next May? Eurovision fans will have to wait for the official announcement from CyBC.
