The Luxembourgish national broadcaster RTL has officially opened submissions for LSC 2027, searching for the next Eurovision entry for the contest in Bulgaria.

The Luxembourgish national broadcaster RTL has officially announced the opening of the song submission window for the national selection “Luxembourg Song Contest 2027”, through which the representative of Luxembourg for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria will be chosen. Registration for the fourth edition of the competition opens today (Thursday).

To maximize opportunities for local talent, the selection of artists and songs will take place this year through two parallel and unique registration tracks.

How can a song be submitted to the Luxembourgish national selection?‎‏

As stated, the submission window for the national selection final, which will take place on Saturday, January 30th, will feature two tracks – artists and songwriters. Following the opening of the submission window, RTL published the official rules for the national selection:

The Artist Track

Singers, performers, and musical groups dreaming of representing Luxembourg are invited to apply for the auditions – without being required to arrive with a ready-made song.

Application requirements:

  • Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old by January 15th, 2027.

  • Availability and experience: Applicants must be available from November 2026 until May 2027 for rehearsals and promotional tours. Live performance experience and comfort on a large stage are also required (up to 6 people on stage).

  • Connection to Luxembourg: Applicants must meet at least one of the following conditions: Luxembourgish citizenship, continuous residency in the country for three consecutive years, or a proven and significant involvement in the local music scene (such as regular participation in festivals and events).

The deadline for applications is Sunday, September 19th, 2026, at 23:59 CET. Auditions will be held in mid-October before an international jury panel composed of Eurovision experts.

The Song Track

Songs intended for the national selection have a separate registration process. Songwriters and composers from Luxembourg and around the world are invited to submit their creations for local performers, provided they meet the following requirements:

  • Language: The song can be written in any language, but songs in the Luxembourgish language are highly welcome and will receive special encouragement.

  • Length: The length of the song must not exceed 3 minutes.

  • Publication: The song must not have been published or performed publicly before September 1st, 2026.

A panel of music and Eurovision experts will listen to the songs and conduct an initial screening to identify those with the highest potential for the competition.

How Will Songs Be Matched with Artists?

At the end of October or beginning of November, the artists and songs that passed the initial screening will meet for a “matching workshop.” During the workshop, artists will receive close guidance from industry experts – including vocal coaches, musicians, and Eurovision professionals. The goal is to select the song for each artist that best expresses their artistic identity and maximizes their chances of success in the competition. The chosen song can be an original creation by the artist themselves, or a song submitted by another writer through the song track. At the end of this collaborative process, the final finalists who will compete in the national selection final will be chosen.

The Grand Final and the Road to Bulgaria 2027

As mentioned, the final competition of LSC will take place on Saturday, January 30th, 2027, at the “Rockhal” venue. This event will officially select the Luxembourgish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. The Eurovision Song Contest itself is scheduled to take place in mid-May in Bulgaria, following the victory of Dara this past year with the hit “Bangaranga”. The host city and exact dates in Bulgaria will be announced at the end of the upcoming month. As a reminder, eight finalists competed in the 2026 national selection, which was ultimately won by Eva Marija with the song “Mother Nature”, representing the country in Vienna.

The Luxembourgish national broadcaster RTL will continue to lead, under the mandate of the Luxembourg government, all Eurovision activities in the country and produce the lavish national selection event. Registration is now open on the official Luxembourg Eurovision website. To sumbit a song – click here!

Luxembourg in Eurovision 2026

Mother Nature” is the title of the song that was performed by Eva Marija, who represented Luxembourg at Eurovision 2026, to be held in Vienna, Austria, in the second semi-final on May 14th. Eva finished 12th in the second semi final, with 60 points, which wasn’t enough for her to qualify for the Grand Final.

Eurovision 2027: This will be Luxembourg’s 41th participation in Eurovision. Luxembourg joined the competition in 1956, was one of the seven founding countries, and has won it five times over the years. Luxembourg’s last victory was at Eurovision 1983 with the song “Si la vie est cadeau” performed by singer Corinne Hermès. In 2024, Luxembourg returned to the competition after a 31-year absence.
