DARA Grazia Woman of the Year

Eurovision 2026 winner DARA submits her smash hit “Bangaranga” for four 2027 Grammy categories following historic chart success.

Eurovision 2026 winner DARA is setting her sights on another major milestone after a landslide victory at the contest, chart success on Billboard and millions of streams worldwide. Her winning song, “Bangaranga”, has officially been submitted for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, marking the next step in the Bulgarian singer’s international breakthrough.

DARA’s Eurovision victory will be remembered as one of the most dominant in the contest’s history, as she recorded the largest-ever points gap between first and second place. However, the song’s success did not end on the Eurovision stage. “Bangaranga” became a major international hit, surpassed 60 million streams on Spotify and made history by reaching number 90 on the prestigious Billboard Global 200 – an unprecedented achievement for a Bulgarian female artist. Now, at the height of her global success, the singer and her team are setting their sights on the 2027 Grammy Awards.

The Next Stop: The 2027 Grammy Awards

Presented annually by the American Recording Academy, the Grammy Awards are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious and coveted honours in the international music industry. Often compared to the Academy Awards in the film industry, the ceremony recognises artistic and technical excellence across the music business, from producers and songwriters to some of the world’s leading performers. For artists from every corner of the globe, securing recognition from the Academy represents a significant mark of quality and a potential gateway into the heart of the American and global music industries.

Following the song’s phenomenal success and the international media attention surrounding it, DARA and her team have officially submitted both “Bangaranga” and the singer herself for consideration ahead of the 69th Annual Grammy Awards in 2027.

The submissions cover four of the music industry’s most prominent Grammy categories:

  •  Record of the Year: Recognises the performer, producers and recording engineers, evaluating the finished recording, including its sound quality, musical production and arrangement.
Song of the Year: Focuses on the quality of the songwriting, particularly the composition and lyrics.
  • Best Pop Solo Performance: A prestigious genre-specific category recognising an outstanding solo pop vocal performance.
  • Best New Artist: A separate submission for DARA, recognising her as one of the most promising and prominent emerging artists in the global music scene.

The submission stage is the first important step on the road to the ceremony. “Bangaranga” and DARA will now enter the consideration process, during which Recording Academy voting members will determine which submissions advance to the final list of nominees, to be announced ahead of the ceremony.

If “Bangaranga” or DARA secures a nomination, it would mark another historic moment for music originating from the Eurovision Song Contest on the American and international stage.

Bulgaria’s New Streaming Queen

The success of “Bangaranga” extends far beyond the Eurovision stage. The song made a historic entry on the Billboard Global 200 at number 90, making DARA the first Bulgarian female artist to appear on the chart, which ranks the world’s leading songs based on sales and streaming data from listeners across more than 200 countries and territories.

As previously reported,“Bangaranga” was co-written and produced by several prominent figures, including Romanian producer Monoir and Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, a familiar name among Eurovision fans. Kontopoulos has been behind numerous popular Eurovision entries, including “Scream”, which represented Russia at Eurovision 2019 and finished third, and “This Is Our Night”, which represented Greece at Eurovision 2009 and placed seventh.

The song also secured Bulgaria’s first-ever Eurovision victory, collecting 516 points and finishing first in both the jury and public votes. In doing so, DARA established the largest points gap in the contest’s history between the winning entry and the runner-up.

Beyond Bulgaria: DARA Captivates International Audiences

Since her victory, DARA has generated enormous buzz across social media. In just three weeks, the video of her Eurovision final performance reached an impressive 18 million views. That figure has since climbed to 30 million.

For comparison, the video of Austrian singer JJ performing “Wasted Love”, which won Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, has accumulated approximately 20 million views to date.

With more than 60 million Spotify streams, a historic Billboard chart entry and submissions to four Grammy categories, DARA’s post-Eurovision journey continues to expand well beyond the contest itself. Whether “Bangaranga” or the Bulgarian singer ultimately earns a Grammy nomination remains to be seen, but her international breakthrough has already established a remarkable new chapter for Bulgaria in the global music industry.

Bulgaria in Eurovision 2026

“Bangaranga” is the song performed by the singer DARA, which represented Bulgaria in Vienna, Austria. DARA won the contest and got 516 points in the final. The song was written and composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos and Cristian Tarcea. While this is the performer’s first Eurovision entry, it marks the 15th song in the contest for composer Dimitris Kontopoulos. The song is performed entirely in English.

Eurovision 2027: The 71st Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Bulgaria, following the country’s historic win with the song “BAGARANGA” performed by DARA. This will be the first time the contest is hosted in Bulgaria.
